“It had a great ambient atmosphere and I loved the lighting and rich wood and brick.”
“Service was slow (an hour between finished entree and dessert menu) and snippy.”
“The food was fantastic, the service great, and a wonderful, reasonably priced wine list.”
“The food was delicious, particularly the spaghetti carbonara, served in a "novel" way (for me).”
“Waitress wasn't terribly knowledgeable about the extensive wine list.”
“nice place, good food and great service !”
“Our orders of steak and ravioli were amazing -- would definitely come back again!”
“The food is really good and so is the service.”
“love this new spot--but i have only one complaint: when i ordered the prosciutto special with peaches, there was not enough prosciutto--i know this b/c i had it with melon last time and the serving was generous.”
“It was 20 minutes before anyone even greeted us at the table, and when our waiter approached, his pompous attitude was overwhelming.”
We were 7 women (cousins) having dinner
after a "spa day", and before an 8:00 Broadway show. we were kindly sat in the Gerden Room in front of the beautiful (but warm) fireplace. The service was great, very conscious of our time-frame. Drinks were very good (martini, gimlet, Dewar's on the rocks, CC & ginger, amaretto, red wine, diet soda) and served quickly and correctly - not the easiest feat with this many chatty women!
The food was delicious!!! Most notable were the appetizers of parmigiana asparagus, beet salad and triu color salad with feta cheese. Everyone was pleased with the entrees, but the person who had the lamb thought is was the best she'd ever had!
There was no downside to the dinner. It was great.
If not great very close.... Been three times and that is a lot for me as I like trying different places every week but it is very hard to go for other options when this one is always present. Last time I went I had the steak and hands down better than the majority of these exclusive "steak only" places in manhattan. One of the best restaurants in manhattan bar none.
Go to local Italian joint. Love this place. Get table in back room. Feel like you are transported to a backyard in Tuscany. Everything is awesome here including the service. Favorites are the octopus salad and guanciale pasta.
Italy in NYC. Bottom line this is one of the best italian meals I have had outside of Italy. Completely blown away.
Really good food@ Crispo.
Absolutely outstanding and can't wait to go back!
Rustic and comfortable surroundings; informed and friendly service, and some of the best and most reasonably priced Italian food I've ever had.
Great Little Hidden place!!!.
Don't let the outdoor appearance of the area fool you! This place is really great! As I was walking towards Crispo I thought no way this cant be it, because the area is not all that great.. and you wouldnt think that the restaurant could be good.. but it was :)
It was my mom's birthday this past saturday and we felt like italian so we decided on Crispo.. having read some of the reviews I thought we should give it a try and I am really glad we did. We sat in the garden/outdoor seating area in the back and it was really cute. The waitress gave us enough time to decide on our orders and gave us great recommendations; she was really nice. Also, the food was yummmyyy!! I would definitely recommend this place and cant wait to go back!!!
GORGEOUS space along an ordinarily dull stretch.
I wondered how many times I had walked past Crispo before I finally noticed it last weekend.
The gorgeous refub industrial glass & metal doors onto the sidewalk are what drew my attention.
Once inside I was amazed at the decor. Simply stunning. Incredible use of the old and industrial in a beautiful manner. Certainly, not a new idea, but Crispo has done it so well your eye is constantly drawn to other impeccable details.
I have not yet the opportunity to sample the menu - but can tell you their drink selection is as varied as the ornamentation.
Inspired infusions that tempt you to try more than you ought in an evening.
Bonus - Pork Slap, on tap!
Great date spot - put this one on your list.
Love this place!. I came upon this place recently by accident and I'm glad I did. This place is amazing! The quality of the food and the portions are a steal for their prices. I had the branzino and it was great. Anyone who claims they got food poisoning from fish must have already had a bug because you don't get food poisoning that quick from food. Definitely a must try and will definitely be back again soon!
food poisoning! avoid the fish!. I went to Crispo recently and suffered from food poisoning due to the fish I had there. I felt very nauseous immediately afterwards. Both the salad and fish were mediocre. There are many better Italian restaurants in the city and many better restaurants in the meatpacking/w village area.
Great Food. I love this place. My friend and I go here every few months and have not been disappointed once. The food is good the staff is very nice and they have a great wine selection. It's a great restaurant for small parties or a romantic dinner for two.
