The Scene
You're torn. You want to try karaoke but don't want to make a fool of yourself in front of strangers. Lock yourself in for a night at Sing Sing, where they understand hesitation. Rent a soundproof room for up to 22 friends, or just for yourself. Then, when you get the guts, belly up to the bar, where every drink gets you a song, complete with a well-buzzed audience. The East Village locale makes a nice alternative to the Chinatown joints and the crowd's a bit edgier.
The Draw
Birthday parties, bachelorettes and groups from work help populate the 15 back rooms where everyone's ensured a chance at the mic. In the privacy of your own mini-MSG, singers can be as obnoxious as they like without getting pulled offstage. And if you and your buddies want to sing "More Than a Feeling" 19 times, it's your $35 an hour.

THEY DO NOT.....REPEAT! DO NOT keep track of when you come in and leave when you have a private room......so you will end up paying the same amount of hours as your friends. We checked in later, and they kept no record. They are crooks. The other reviews below me are pretty much right on.
Pros: Great song list.
Cons: Everything else

Sing sing was the biggest disappointment, I have ever encountered. First they show us back to our "karaoke room", which was much more like a dirty closet, then barely explained anything and left. Although they have a great selection of songs, their customer service, prices, and accomodations are awful. They add 18% gratuity to your full bill. And when I say full bill the gratuity includes any drinks you have as well as a 18% gratuity on the room you have already paid $24+ dollars for. I dont remember any other place you pay a gratuity on the room. Numerous times we had to find staff members and ask for them to come take drink orders. The rooms were terribly hot, and had chipped walls, with multiple holes everywhere. Almost every 5 minutes there was someone staring us down through the small window in our door. It felt like we were in quarantine. They may make it seem as though you are catching a great deal. However, the only thing you may catch, is a staph infection
Pros: song list
Cons: everything else
