Louis Comfort Tiffany Editorial Review
A Room With a View
The Deedee Wigmore gallery is the repository of a diverse array of Tiffany works. An early oil painting, some jewel-encrusted baubles and even a grandly mounted thermometer accompany the unavoidable stained glass windows and varicolored lampshades. Particularly impressive is the large case of Favrile blown-glass vases, which makes evident the esteemed decorator's skill at manipulating his favorite material.
Ah, Wilderness
Constant throughout is Tiffany's romantic view of nature, his undisputed muse. Lead tendrils gently shape bucolic scenes; vases crest in floral lips while lamps descend to bulbous stands. Wrinkled, folded, layered or laminated, Tiffany's glass always expresses his love of the natural order with unexpected texture and luminescent color. You might say, his objectives are transparent.

Insider Tips
The museum's Tiffany collection is not consigned to the Wigmore gallery alone. In the main hall of the American wing, you'll find a working fountain--elaborately decorated with mosaic tiles--and other large works by this art-nouveau designer.
