Great after work spot!!!

by prncesst

My friend and I visited Metro 53 for happy hour last Thursday and we were pleasantly surprised. The drinks were tasty ($4 well drinks), our waitress was very attentive and the atmosphere was great. Metro got extremely crowded as the evening went on, so i would suggest getting there right after work to snag a table.

  • Pros: Cheap drinks
  • Cons: Gets extremely crowded

This place still knows how to party!

by thsully1

When this place first opened it was the talk of town. Velvet rope lines every night. The lines have certainly subsided, but the party has not!

Great for drinks after work and private parties (both corporate and personal). Food has always been good too. Excellent tunes and even better bartenders, doormen and hosts!

Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Location, Staff, crowd

Good for groups, but way too loud

by drink_club1

It's loud! There are speakers everywhere and there's no getting away from it. It was Ai's theory that it's intentional, to encourage people to stand closer to one another to shout into each other's ears so they'll become more intimate. I donno. The DJ was nice enough for turn the volume down: from head-exploding to simply ear-splitting level. The waitress was extremely accommodating, even though her tip was included. (Though she did forget Gene's black and tan for a bit.) Ai was surprised she took our orders on the back of a paper napkin. The food was basic-- except for the cheese fries (all too rare in NY bars), but not bad. The beer selection was limited, but did have Blue Moon and Bass. Rachel said the bar was "cheesy. It could be in anywhere U.S. of A." There were a lot of TV screens with sports on them. The place was not crowded... especially the tables in the back. That means it's a good place to bring a late evening crew. Most folks hung by the bar in front... and stood up. --Drinkclubnyc is a roving group of NYC drinkers
