ambiance
100.0% positive
  1. was almost turned off by the "atmosphere" thinking it was a little too kitschy, but if you ignore the space decorations and emphasis on hemp the food is quite good and makes vegetarians and edgy omnivores quite happy.
  2. Cool ambiance, great place to chow before or after a show at Irving.
  3. casual, fun, decent meal
  4. Would recommend that they keep up with the great food but tone down the "out of this world" atmosphere.
  5. My salad had baked cubes of tofu instead of croutons, which was fun and the tacos had cabbage instead of lettuce, which worked pretty well.
  6. Overall, the experience was very pleasant, and the atmosphere was great for a place to chill and eat right before a concert.

Caused Food Poisoning!

by GreenHealth at Citysearch

I ordered delivery from this restaurant once before and had enjoyed the food on a previous occasion. BUT, this pass week I got food poisoning from their BBQ Seitan entree, garlic spinach, and/or bamboo rice. I have an ER and doctor bill for the 3 days I was out (no food, no water, just IV hydration in my arm). I'm awaiting the test results from what caused the poisoning exactly. I didn't eat anything that day until dinner from this restaurant. When Neil, the restaurant manager asked me what compensation do I want, I hadn't thought about it and said for my meal to be comped. I would have been fine with an apology, but he got angry by that and challenged me to press charges.

  • Pros: Fine food on previous occasion
  • Cons: Caused Food Poisoning this time!

More a Diner than an Eatery

by drink_club1 at Citysearch

The name GALAXY DINER fits it better. From the counter to the booths, it's more diner than eatery (or drinkery). Our group of a dozen or so were the entire crowd, except for a few stragglers at the bar. The smallish place has one server, who was accommodating, if not Ms. Congeniality. Despite the Galaxy theme, the place was quite down-to-earth. A standard diner menu, with a few extra goodies like vegetarian potstickers. We didn't order main courses, so we can't comment on that. The calamari, we can say, was happily ungreasy. The beer selection was a step above BUD, BUD LITE, COORS. They even had Sapporo in those fancy silver cans. It's a good place to go for a quiet evening with a group. It won't be crowded. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers

  • Pros: quiet, unpretentious
  • Cons: very unspecial

So BAD it's out-of-this world

by MsDiner at Citysearch

I choked on the dry chicken on my caesar salad. Choked! The waitress told me I shouldn't have eaten it. The manager gave me 'talk to the hand' attitude. I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me. I'd give it no stars but the program won't let me.

  • Pros: My friend enjoyed her bloody mary
  • Cons: Bad food, inept manager does not give a flip, mean waitress

what a dump

by mash1982 at Citysearch

first of all it stinks in there, smell of burnt food is everywhere!

food is gross, I had ceasar salad with chicken-simply disgusting!our waitress saw that we are unhappy with the food but did not care to ask. My friend had free-range chicken, it even didn't look as chicken and tasted horrendous!

one bathroom did not work and did not have a door (!) the other one was gross.

I was so unhappy with this place that I decided to register here and write my first review.

  • Pros: none
