Impossible to get the value for the money – This pass sounds like a good idea and a lot of the claims of "free" admission are probably true, however, there are some things that are misleading or false. Namely, forget about "express to the front of the line access"...this does not happen..period. You will wait for HOURS like everyone else.
The main disappointment, however, is that it was virtually impossible for us to get our money back. We are an active family of five, all teenage kids and we could not bust our butts hard enough to get our money back in two days..even with getting the passes at a discount with free bus passes included.
This pass is not the "preferred" pass of the city...you are made to feel like you have a second rate pass. People who had CityPass (which is more expensive) did get to cut some lines, but that pass only covers a couple of attractions.
Finally, beware reviews on sites that actually sell the pass. They are 100% positive and a total joke. Beware any review site that has unbalanced positive reporting with no place for you to leave a review yourself. I felt so strongly about our disappointment in the New York Pass that I sought out this site where people can hear the truth.
Good experience – Found this was really worth while. Everything I wanted to go and see I did and I even got an extra 5% off here www.promotioncodez You do still have to queue to get into the sights but I did not expect otherwise, the good thing was I could go and see what I wanted to and it was already all paid for.
Not so great – This pass is not as useful as it claim. though it has a free entry to attractions.. Still we may endup in ticket lines to get a ticket for entry. but we will not pay for that. Saves money but not the time. Should allow to bypass the ticket lane.
and a 1 day pass is waste of time....without proper planning (don't visit empire state first or in middle do it in last)
City pass (NY) has less attractions but can bypass the ticket lines saves huge time in ticket line in empire state bldg
They should make it a ticketless entry with this pass.
BEWARE and AVOID - LONG LINES AHEAD! – NOT A FAST TRACK TICKET AS REPRESENTED for the empire State Building and IMAX helicopter ride - all told we spent 4 hours and ran out of time - while others who purchased priorty tickets from the ESB directly went on ahead. We stood in EVERY line that walk-up customer would stand in.. BEWARE AND AVOID - next time we recommend buying a priorty pass from the ESB directly.
It did save us time and it cost us MORE money.
It's good..but be aware – I did to get the New York pass and it did help me but.... If you decide to go to the Empire State Building at night here's what to do. Get there early. I arrived at dark--about 8pm. The NYP will make it possible for you to not have to buy a ticket but it cannot get you out of waiting in a l-o-n-g line. I waited over 2 hours. My advice. Go to the IMAX movie first. The movie closes at 10pm so you could possible miss it. Also, stop at the 86th floor. You can go outside and take some amazing pictures. If, like me, you decide to go to the 102nd floor be aware that you will not be outside so your pictures will have to be taken through glass. It is also $15.00 extra to go to the 102nd floor. The same can be said for the Statue of Liberty. You will bypass the long ticket line by going into the museam building but you will be in a long line to get on the boat.. it does move reasonable quick. Remember to buy your tickets for entrance to the statue before you reach the island or you cannot go in. For al museums and such the NYP is fantastic. Remember the NYP saves you from ticket lines but cannot save from waiting in the lines to the great New York attractions. I paid $113.00 for my NYP and if i went again i would buy it again. Have fun!!
This pass was great! – Members of my family came to visit me from Florida and they wanted to see everything in New York in one weekend. I bought 2-day New York Passes for all of us, and we went everywhere, the Intrepid, Madame Tussaud's, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Bronx Zoo and many others. Even though I live here, I had never been to any of these places either, so this was perfect. Plus, I would have spent a million dollars if I payed all the admission prices seperately. The pass comes with a book that tells about all the places you can get into.
VIP on the cheap – What a neat idea. We used the heck out of these passes, and really got some bang for our buck! Would like to see more line-skipping attractionsw added, but all in all, the pass really deivered. Guidebook was better than some I've seen in stores - bonus.
The thrifty tourist's way to gain admission to multiple landmarks and museums with the purchase of a single ticket. – The Style
Some people would rather plan their own sightseeing itinerary than be led around in a pack by a know-it-all or a trivia buff. Independent spirits, rejoice: This pass has been designed with you in mind. For a single payment (approximately equal to the total admissions for three or four tourist traps), you'll gain entry to over 40 NYC attractions. The question is how many can you squeeze into one day?
Though the one-day pass is the most popular, passes that last two, three or seven days are available as well. Your card is activated at the first place you use it and expires the final night at 12am. You'll also get an unlimited Metrocard, which can get you from one place to another via bus or subway. In addition, passholders get discounts at some major restaurants and stores. Check the accompanying, handily informative tour book that you'll also receive for further details.
