In Short
With high ceilings, a handful of semi-private booths and 13 beers on tap--including Guinness, Pilsner Urquell, Stella Artois and Heineken--McFadden's is an east side Irish pub with a touch of class. Professionals in their late 20s and early 30s sit at the polished dark wood bar into the wee hours, sipping McFadden's classic martinis and munching on beer battered onion rings from the full menu. All eyes are on the many sports-broadcasting TV sets.

I get sent to NYC on business every few weeks but this time I arrived on a sunday rather than midweek. My company put me up in the Tudor Hotel on 42nd so I decided to go across the street to Mcfaddens to watch the Yankees. I've gone by there sometimes and thought it was kinda rowdy and not my scene but they must have changed something because I had a great experience. I sat at the bar, ate my grilled cheese for dinner and had to drink away my sorrows at the yankees getting swept by Boston. I was just going to watch the game but I ended up closing the place down, Mary (the bartender) did a fantastic job and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to roll in for some good bar food and a fun place to watch a game. The only drawback was the yankees losing!!

This place is the worst bar in the city, I will never go near this place again. The music was the most awful, cliche selection of bar sing alongs you can imagine, the lighting was bright and tacky, the staff was arrogant and beyond cheesy, the over-packed crowd was all button down meatheads yelling "BRO" and sloshing beer everywhere, the one drink I managed to get before I was fed up was maybe 2% liquor.. I have a very high tolerance for bad bars, but this was without a doubt the worst bar-going experience I've ever had. Every person in this joke of an "Irish" pub needs to accept that senior year is long gone and get on with their lives.

WORST BAR EXPERIENCE EVER! So me and my coworkers saw they had this $20 All You Can Drink for 2 hours Special every friday, we work a block away, so why not right? Wrong!! We get there, where the bouncer checks your ID just to step into the place (haha..big joke since this place is more of a pub) and they tell us that the $20 special's been discontinued. What they have now is you pay $5 , they clamp a wristband on you, and you get drinks HALF PRICE for 2 hours. Sounds cool right? Wrong!! Me and my buddies from work start ordering beers. They order pints of Guiness, myself a Stella. One of them is charged $3 for a Guiness, the other $4 for a Guiness, and I'm charged $4 for a Stella. So my $3 buddy says keep it quiet, he's getting beers cheaper than normal. We say..coool. But after 3 beers, I had to ask. I'm like, so Stella's are $8 normally? The bartender (cute but obviously dumber than a doorknob) says no they're $6. I'm like $6..whoa..I've been paying $4 a pop plus $2 tips on each bottle. She's like well, I didnt have change and walks away. Meanwhile the bar is packed! Come on, you were busted! Rather than her say, "oooh my bad, next beer on me!" Or even I'm sorry.. she gives atttitude..so I ask to speak to the bar manager. She whispers in his ear, and vice versa, so it wouldnt surprise me if they were banging each other after shift. Anyway, I'm waiting like 15 minutes..i think he was hoping I would just leave. He comes over and asks if there's a problem. I tell him the whole story, and he's got absolutely no excuse in the world but at the same time still NO apologies. He gives me my $5 back , a business card and tells me I can do whatever I want. It's not the extra $1 I'm paying , but the principle. Charge EVERYONE the same price, this is called discrimination and they were called out on it. We left for another local bar and got a buy back after 1 beer! Bad music, corny crowd and rude bartenders.. be afraid, be very afraid!
