The Scene – This meze house--the Turkish version of a tapas bar--attracts families, as well as older couples and groups. Since the place gets crowded, the usually attentive waitstaff can sometimes become harried and profusely apologetic. Somehow, though, the bread basket is never empty. – – The Food – The meze span a range from familiar to exotic. The creamy hummus is a good use for the crusty bread. A sharp take on tabbouleh is also excellent, and feta rolled in phyllo dough is a crispy standout. Eggplant sauteed with tomatoes and garlic is a good choice, but the…
One of the best Turkish restaurants in NYC!!!
by nyc81
For sure, one of the best Turkish restaurant in NYC!!! The atmosphere is fun and great for people-watching. The waiters are also super-friendly and informative, and most importantly, the food is DELICIOUS!! I'm Turkish, so I know what I'm talking about. Everything, from the many appetizers, to the main courses, to the desserts, and the full bar with Turkish wines was fantastic!! Can't wait to go back!
- Pros: Location, service, FOOD
- Cons: NONE!

Come with a group so you can try everything
by noak11
I went with a group of three people and we ordered 7 Meze (like tapas, small appetizer portions) to share. We had hummus, a tapenade of peppers and olives, falafel, a spinach yogurt sauce, these feta rolls, tomato soup with goat cheese- it was all delicious. And all of it served with unlimited fluffy, tasty bread. We all ate our fill and it only cost $45 total. Not bad for Upper East Side and a great place to sample great Mediterranean cuisine.
- Pros: Good Variety, Nice Ambience
- Cons: Can't think of any
The Details on Beyoglu
What to Drink:
Raki, an anise-flavored alcohol similar to ouzo and Pernod, is the drink of choice in the Istanbul neighborhood that gives Beyoglu its name. Adding ice turns the clear spirit milky white.
Look Good:
Don't ask for pitas. They don't have them.
Save Money:
Ordering a spread of mezes will keep the price down--and it's more filling than a large main course.
