Stay Away!! Suzanne H's experience
isn't isolated. I too had a bad customer service experience where they were unapologetic and argumentative.
I bought an expensive cake which fell apart when taking it out of the box. Their responses were:
- do you even know how to take a cake out of a box?
- you're a chef, can't you just fix it
- the pastry chef isn't here, what do you want me to do (said with attitude)
After a frustrating conversation where they just talked in circles I got a little heated. I had to raise my voice just to get a word in edgewise. Their response - they called the cops.
This place is a joke. Stay away.
Nut allergies beware!!!!!!!.
I just recently placed an expensive dessert order with the cafe for I do believe they have the most amazing desserts. I inquired about nuts in their baked goods for I have a niece that has a nut allergy and was informed that there were no nuts in their apple pie when indeed, there are nuts baked into the crust. This then caused a visit to the emergency room on Thanksgiving evening and when I brought it to the owner's attention, there was no apology and nothing was done to make the situation better. Instead, the owner just became argumentative and defensive and had a very bad attitude! I was shocked!!!! I understand simple mistakes can be made however, when it comes to food allergies, which can possibly lead to a life or death matter, should you not train/inform your sales associates of what ingredients are in your baked goods? Am I really expecting too much? The whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth and could have been eased with just a bit of empathy and a simple apology and efforts made to rectify the situation.
So in all, if you have nut allergies, stay clear of the cafe and if you do have a bad experience, do not expect an apology or anything done to rectify the problem.
There has been new owners here since Jan. 2009.
Stop by and see all the new changes made and the awesome staff.
Their biggest hits are their Sumatra coffee, Graham cracker coffee, coffee ice cubes, overstuffed cookies, flakey croissants, and HALE & HEARTY SOUPS!!!
Thanks for all your support!

Do go to Ganache, Dont wait !
Gourmet Desserts. Ganache is the highlight of my Hoboken experience and has been a second home to me. Amazingly friendly staff and owners, Jessica and Keith, make your experience so special. From quiches to almond croissants to yummy cinnamon muffin... breakfast at Ganache is my weekend thing. Jean Claude's cakes are also out of this world. The Ganache cake and chocolate mousse cake are my favorites. Ganache feels like Paris in Hoboken (with a little of American twist of course)
Decadent and delightful cafe that left you with a fun feeling.
After traveling from an area that does not know what a croissant is, we were delighted to come upon Ganache. This unique cafe delighted us with a wonderful, delicate and decadent selection of pastries and desserts as well as wraps. It was heaven to share and sample the variety while making a game of which was the favorite.
We were impressed with the selections of teas and coffees that complimented the exciting menu selection.
This little oasis is worth finding. Don't miss this unique cafe that offered us such a wonderful experience with a different twist on the word lunch. You won't find common here.
Yum is all I can say about this place! I just went there after reading the rough review about the white chocolate mousse (made me curious!) I ordered it and it was delicious!! I guess different strokes for different folks! I actually met the owner (Jessica) and she was so nice and explained to me what the difference in sizes of the cake meant. Also got a free sample of a chocolate chip cookie!! Hooray for chocolate! I liked the white chocolate mousse so much I bought the bigger one for a dinner party I was headed to for Mothers Day and everyone was so happy!
So thank you to the angry guy for writing! I might not have tried out this place if it wasn't for you! I can't wait to go back!!
Avoid a potenital disaster!.
They lure you in with samples of their cakes which taste great, but when you buy the bigger cake for $28.00, you'll get it home and be disappointed, because instead of all of the sweet indulgent flavor you experienced in the sample, the bigger cake is full of really dry cake with a strange flavor. HEAVEN FORBID YOU BUY A WEDDING CAKE FROM GANACHE, based on these samples that ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE REAL DEAL. These samples have about 1 millimeter of cake, while the actual cake is about 90% cake which is really dry and tastes strange.
I bought a white chocolate-moose cake, and it tasted like rum cake. not sure why, but the owner Jessica insisted that the cake was perfect and her customers agree. I reminded her that "I" was her customer and she needed to understand that she may be potentially letting others down by misrepresting the cakes she sold. I guess she considers only those who agree with her to be her customers! I told her the cake I bought wasn't anything like the sample she offered us before and I wanted a refund... I gave her the entire cake back. She said she does not give refunds and said she expects that if her customers spend $28.00 on a cake they don't like and don't want to eat, that they will just not buy the cake again. I told her that that is an expensive lesson to learn... she said that it isn't her fault and again insisted the cake was perfect.
She undermines her customers and still takes their money. I am so glad I only lost 28.00 on the cake, and not 1500.00 on my wedding cake.
Please don't waste your time here, nothing is good, they just keep brainwashing people by telling them we have a french chef Jean-Pierre!!!! and he and everything he makes is perfect!!!!
But it's all lies and not worth half of the high prices they put on their products.
This is one of my most favorite places ever!. The dessert is what brought me here in the first place -- a friend of mine had ordered a cake from them and recommended that I check it out. I was not at all disappointed. Their main draw is their pastries, but they serve Illy coffee -- which is the best, in my opinion -- have a large selection of muffins and these huge "overstuffed" cookies. I could spend hours gobbling up their sweets, all of which are fantastic. I've also had their wraps and quiches a few times, which we both very good. They also do catering and from what I hear, they do a great job with that too. Friendly service, nice hang out away from the noise and crowds of Washington Street. Parking can be a pain, depending on what day and time you go, but it's a breeze compared to dowtown or Washington Street.
The best in town (and then some)!!. I have to say, out of all the cafes I've been to over the years, this is the one that keeps bringing me back time and again. Whether it's for a quick coffee in the AM, or an evening treat, they aim to please. The staff, especially Jessica & Keith, are without a doubt as stellar as their desserts (too many to mention them all - a few favorites are Strawberry Shortcake, Cinnamon Pear tart, and Pumpkin Nougatine when in season). But it doesn't stop there...they have wonderful wraps, salads, teas, and of course COFFEE! I've also had the pleasure of working w/them for a cocktail party & they came through in a big way - hor d'ouerves, desserts, etc...everything was PERFECT & they were so helpful & accommodating. I honestly can't say a bad thing about them...except that maybe they should be open 24/7!! I love this place!
