In Short
This lovely but casual spot puts its own whimsical spin on traditional tea service. Mismatched furniture and fine china make it clear that it's okay if you're not wearing your Sunday best. You'll find four tea services of various sizes, including one for kids. All include a choice of more than 150 brews, fresh sandwiches and scones with clotted cream. There's also a choice of salads. Desserts include rich chai creme brulee and mocha chocolate chip cake.

I thought Alice Tea Cup was a pretty cute place, but I still love Allison Nelson's Chocolate Bar for the best chocolate in town! Their new location in the West Village has a great nostalgia influenced ambiance with the BEST varieties of gourmet chocolates around! They just moved to 19 Eighth Avenue between 12th Street & Jane, NYC (West Village). Its a must try, I guarantee you'll love it!

I absolutely love Alice's! I'm a big tea drinker, and I'm never disappointed with their tea selection. The scones are the best I've ever had, and the soups and sandwiches are all delicious. I also love to come here for brunch--the eggs benedict and French toast are outstanding. If you come here on the weekend, be prepared for a long wait (we're talking up to two hours), but they'll take your phone number and you can walk to the park or do some shopping in the neighborhood until they call you. The servers can seem a little frazzled sometimes, but I've never had bad service here. Even on the busiest mornings, they're always happy to answer questions and make recommendations, and I've never felt rushed. Definitely make a reservation if you're coming with a larger group, and if not, I recommend coming during the week, when it's less chaotic. Even if you do end up waiting, I promise it's worth it!
