Editorial Review for Alice's Tea Cup – by Sasha Emmons
In Short
This lovely but casual spot puts its own whimsical spin on traditional tea service. Mismatched furniture and fine china make it clear that it's okay if you're not wearing your Sunday best. You'll find four tea services of various sizes, including one for kids. All include a choice of more than 150 brews, fresh sandwiches and scones with clotted cream. There's also a choice of salads. Desserts include rich chai creme brulee and mocha chocolate chip cake.

Insider Tips
When to GoSince Alice's Tea Cup doesn't take reservations for parties of fewer than six, try it during less busy times, such as weekday mid-afternoons.
The ExtrasLooking for a spot for a child's birthday party? There's a kids' menu here (which includes pureed baby food), and the servers come armed with glitter for little faces.

i came here on a saturday afternoon with my friends. (we made reservations before hand) not all my friends were there yet and they said we had to wait until the rest of us came (only three more ppl). plus they told us we had to wait for our table...an hour later we said whats up with our table- we had reservations. they said it is very busy we might have to wait two hours. the girl at the front desk didn't even seem to sh*t. we were angry complained and didn't get anything out of that!!
Pros: i like the fries
Cons: rather eat at the east side location

Oh my goodness gracious, heavens to mergatroid and then some!!! This place is sooo cute and sweet!!! On my first visit to the W73rd St store...on the recommendation of a friend, I almost missed it because you have to step down from the sidewalk to get to the door and I wasn't paying attention...silly me...I found it on my second pass though and had the best surprise as I entered...the beautiful aroma of fresh from the oven scones...YUM!...I love the inviting homey feel and the staff is so friendly too...! They recommended the pumpkin scone...ooh...I just have to say...to-die-for-yummy!...actually, so is the buttermilk scone...hee-hee...hard to make up my mind... The staff also recommended a nice tea and the service is beautifully mixed and matched-cute and adds to the easy comforting ambiance of the shop... A friend and I went to both 63rd and 81st Street shops on the east side and we haven't been disappointed...and those are a bit bigger and how it's presented...The scenes painted on the walls, the fabric on the seats, the color scheme...it's just so nicely done...there was a baby shower and a bridal shower going on in the back rooms while we were at the one on 63rd one time...the place is very suited for stuff like that...but boy-oh-boy, those yummy scones with the jam and the apple nutella sandwichs are just sooo right...! Well...there's my opinion...when you try them out, I hope you end up feeling like I do...Five YUMS!!!...lol...
Pros: A relaxing and comforting atmosphere, nice staff, wide tea selection and nice food.
Cons: We've waited a bit on the weekend and some evenings, but mid week is usually a shorter wait...
