Editorial Review for Traffic – by Amanda Nowinski
The Scene
Black-and-white soft-core photos of naked ladies adorn the walls of this midtown bar, which wants to attract a swanky, champagne 'n' Versace crowd, but ends up catering to straight-arrow businessmen boasting wallets full of corporate credit cards. The lounge feels like a much classier Hooters, with its female-only staff uniformed in black micro-minis and cleavage-bearing tanks.
The Draw
If your outfit doesn't scream "unlimited expense account," you can expect snotty, haphazard service from the cocktail servers and bartenders, all of whom appear to be embittered catalogue models. Decorated with supple, white leather couches and barely-there lighting, the club is too suave to be a pick-up joint, but the sexy vibe to which it aspires is not exactly subtle. A surprisingly well-conceived wine and cheese selection offers a bit of distraction.

A friend suggested we meet there before heading out for the night. The place was crowded at 10 when we arrived. We left at 11:30 there was a big line out the door. We didn't grab one of the lounge areas, although they look very comfortable. The bartenders were very quick and made good drinks for the bar being so crowded. Best of all they had a great attitude. The bartender made a point of saying thank you and good bye when we were leaving. That scores points with me. Drink prices are not cheap, by not expensive either. I paid the same price one hour later at Show for a Belve rocks as I did for a well executed Patron margharita at Traffic. I will return soon to try some of the lounge food and to see how the place is the rest of the night.
Pros: good drinks, great service
Cons: short wine list, might get too crowded
