What People Are Saying About The World Bar

The Owner

The World Bar

Owner

Recently opened and already one of New York City's premiere nightlife destinations, The World Bar is on the ground floor of the exclusive Trump World Tower condominium and overlooks the United Nations and its beautiful gardens.

The classically contemporary space which is the first U.S. project of Brazil's most celebrated hospitality architect features soaring 30-foot ceilings, book-matched oak walls, and a "floating" glass mezzanine.

Uniquely elegant and very conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan, The World Bar is ideal for cocktail receptions, dinners and business meetings for up to 150 guests.

The Scene
Be warned: Donald Trump's bar near the United Nations doesn't soar above the city or ooze with international intrigue. The beige, sparsely populated room holds square lobby chairs and a central round, outward-facing banquette with wannabe-funky, stalagmite-like tables. Downbeat house music and a TV screen broadcasting the night's game fill in the mismatched picture, while a gracious staff waits on suited and casually dressed guests.

The Draw
What the bar lacks in ambience, it makes up for with a knockout drink list. Most remarkable is the $50 World Cocktail--topped with liquified gold. The bartender personally comes out to mix the delicate, port-scented blend of Remy XO, white grape and lemon juice, Pineau des Charentes fortified grape juice, Veuve Clicquot and a 23-carat floater, which leaves your lips sparkling. If that's too rich, pick a drink from the $12 menu of standards and house inventions; the mai tai tastes superbly fresh.

I Recently visited this place, i must say it SUCKED, it was filled with Ugly Snobby Rich People, with a combination of Trashy people trying to get with the Snobs.. the place was TINY, overpriced, and PACKED Def not going to this place again, Maybe if i wanted to stick up a trust fund baby then i'll consider going back

Yes, yes, of course had to have the World Cocktail after seeing it on "Three Sheets" and it was fun. Nice professional staff, lovely furnishings, a decent shrimp cocktail and some liquid gold made for a very pleasant Friday evening stop.

I have to contradict some of the things that I have heard about the World Bar located in the UN. We have visited the World bar and were terribly disappointed in the service and the attitude of most people there. I would not go back. Never mind the prices.

The Details on The World Bar

What to Drink:

In lieu of cigars, try a unique response to the smoking ban: a Smokeless Manhattan. Churchill's port, Laphroaig scotch and orange bitters (but no nicotine) make up the bar's liquid version of a Marlboro.

The Extras:

Snack on mini-burgers, but avoid the cheese and sausage plate with supermarket-grade fixings.
