Editorial Review for SEA – by Jennifer N. Fink
The Scene
Walk into a crowded world of disco balls, trance music, mod chairs and even a swing or two. Then, discover a sea of tranquility: a pool surrounded by greenery, watched over by a golden Buddha. Downtown club meets Buddhist shrine in this large, airy space. However, the slow and sometimes rude service is more clubby than Zen.
The Food
Seafood is just one of the offerings on this lengthy and well-priced Thai menu. Excellent spring rolls, minty po pia sod rolls and chewy "drunk man" noodles in a fragrant brown sauce make great starts. The papaya salad is heavily dressed in vinegar, cabbage and chile oil. Fish dishes, like the whole red snapper served in a garlic-lemon sauce and marinated mummy fish, tend to be cooked to the max. Try the crispy banana with green tea ice cream for a rich, ungreasy treat, and don't miss the frisky pineapple-ginger martini.

The food here is excellent! Highly reccommend any of their fish dishes. Food is always fresh. To date, I have been here about 10 times and never have I been disappointed. Service is always quick.

Dined out at Sea last night for the first time and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. My fiancé and I arrived at the restaurant roughly around 10pm and had to wait a solid 40 minutes before getting a table, was not shocked since it was a Saturday night. We spent our time waiting by the crowded bar and tried one of their specialty mojitos, which was slightly sweet but overall one of the better that I have tried around NYC. Everything from the loud pumping music to the low dimmed lights, created a feeling like we were dining inside of a night club, which is pretty fun if you’re on a date or hanging out with a bunch of friends. Honestly the reasonable prices were too hard to resist, and we ended up ordering 6 dishes between the two of us, the most expensive main dish was under $15 and their appetizers were ranging from $5-9. The food was all right for the cost, but if I had one complaint, I think the dishes were overly sweet. We ordered two glasses of house white wine, which were $5 each and our total bill came out to $60. Overall had a great dining experience at Sea for the atmosphere, the food was okay (too sweet in my case) but a good place to have a few drinks and nibble on some snacks.
Pros: Reasonable prices and a great place to have a few drinks and a snack
Cons: Dishes were too sweet
