“The food is AMAZING - the butternut squash ravioli blew my mind - the staff is knowledgeable, the atmosphere is great and so is the wine.”
“Not only are the pizza delicious and quintessentially Italian (with thin crusts and fresh ingredients), but the ambiance is warm and friendly and busy and fun, and the dessert with Nutella is AMAZING!”
“This place is wonderful: the pizza delicious, as was the chicken my wife had, and they have a great wine list.”
“The food is delicious and addictive, hence why the majority of east villagers are regulars here.”
“have the calamari often which is fantastic, the menu is very simple which i find key to a successful restaurant as many try to over complicate their menus.”
“If you want pizza go to john's if you want good pasta go to Frank's (lil' Franks brothers place).”
“The service can be slow but that's fine by me because I never feel rushed to order, or rushed to leave (even though it's always crowded).”
“The pasta was quite good, but not worth getting robbed by the waitstaff.”
“Mostly come for late lunch, and I'm sure service etc can be quite annoying in the evening, however, there aren't that many good lunch spots in NY, and if you want to truly feel as though a long lunch could be part of your life, this is where to go.”
If You Haven't Been, Check It Out. I used to live in East Village.. just a random two month sublet but I was literally living around the corner from Lil Frankie's. It's a cool spot, especially if you love dirty-south banging hip-hop music and Italian food. The food was always delicious... one time I was there and we were having drinks and just placed our order, only to witness a giant cockroach crawling down the wall next to our table. We kind of freaked out because we just ordered food.. so we left that time. But you have to expect that everywhere in NYC there is a chance you will see a cockroach or a rat so I only took one star off.. And I've eaten there since and it was great. I mean the food was always delicious and the vibe is cool. It's a place you have to go if you've never been.
Pasta and Pizza. Never a let down. The mini meatballs are some of the best i ever had. I always enjoy the pizza and they have a great wine list. The price is right thats why i keep going back.
great find. sure beats the same kind of joint three of cups is down the road. this place knows what its doing when it comes to pizza and milanese. yummy. try it sometime, you won't be disappointed.
This place is bad. Our waiter was ok, after burning my arm with their hot place (which scarred) he gave us a free round of drinks. My friend ate a mussel that she thought had some sort of spices on it, turns out it was some sort of discusting stuff that literally tasted like a word i can say on here! And the food-blah.
Decent food, AWFUL SERVICE. Went here on a Friday afternoon when there was only one other table and had terrible service - the guy spills beer on the table, he took more than 10 minutes to bring a coke to the table, and what should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into an hour and a half fiasco...and to top it off they included a 20% gratuity! CHUTZPAH! The pizza was fine, but I imagine you can find better within a 4 block radius. The pasta was quite good, but not worth getting robbed by the waitstaff. 20% to take a half an hour to get the beer and then to spill it on us?!?! Come on...
best pizza downtown. Hands down the most delicious pizza downtown -well worth braving the crowds. Go early to get a table in a reasonable amount of time otherwise the wait can be atrocious.
Nice place, awful service.
I went to this restaurant this past weekend. I sat outside, it was beautiful on Saturday. I waited a good 15-20 minutes w/no service. No water, nothing. I got up to leave. A really nice bartender said I should stay because the food was really good & I thought the outside porch was just really quaint. She even came & checked on me later.
Well, let's just say, I should have followed my instincts. When a waiter did finally come, I found out that someone didn't show up.
I understand that it was a stressful situation for them--when someone calls out, it makes a mess of everything.
In short, I arrived there before 1:30. I didn't see a waiter until almost 2:00 at that point, I had to rush thru my meal to get to my next engagement at 2:30.
I wish the experience had been better, it's a cool spot.
Oh, the food. The food was decent & it would have tasted better, with better service.
Decent. Went to Lil frankies this weekend for dinner for a b-day party. We did get a good table and did not have to sit in the front which looked pretty bad since people were everywhere and it felt very crowded. The waiter was kind of rude but decent. The salads were not good. it seemed as tho there was no dressing on any of them. The spinach was great as was the pizza. The entrees were so so. We did have to ask 4 times to get water refilled for the table and it also took at least 20 minutes to get a check. All in all it was a good time, but not the best. Luckily it isnt all that expensive. Just be prepared to wait a bit on the service.
feels like home. I don't know how it started, but I made a habit of making lil' frankie's my solo dinner spot. I go in and order a glass of wine and relax. I usually order whatever pasta special they have... A whole pizza is hard to finish by yourself. The food is simple and delicious. The service can be slow but that's fine by me because I never feel rushed to order, or rushed to leave (even though it's always crowded). As a "solo diner", I often feel neglected by restaurants, or urged to eat and leave quickly to free up the table for another party, which is understandable, but I'm impressed that that sort of attitude doesn't exist at Lil' Frankie's. It's comforting.
Little Frankies is Big!. I stumbled into little Frankies by chance one night and glad i did so, straight away the atmosphere was engaging and the buzz was great, from the interior design to the little rooms all with their different personality's. The staff, very friendly and helpful which leaves me to comment on the food, great!! I have the calamari often which is fantastic, the menu is very simple which i find key to a successful restaurant as many try to over complicate their menus. Pizzas at Little Frankies are one of the best cooked in a wood oven which in my opinion is the way! I have nothing bad to say about Frankies. Weekends can get busy so book in advance the wait can take 20 minuets if you walk in but there is a bar where you can wait.
