The Scene
Located in that nebulous area between the bustle of 34th Street and the beautiful-people bars of Chelsea, Black Door is just as comfortably low-key as its tiny sister bar, Union Square's Park Bar. High tin ceilings and dark wood wainscoting are warmed up by votives on every table--and an abundance of stools prevent that uncomfortable standing-with-a-martini posture. Small amenities, such as hooks everywhere to hang up coats, encourage you to stay a while.
The Draw
The owners aim for zero attitude, and they succeed. Friendly waitresses dispense bowls of mixed nuts and large, strong drinks--and they don't even require a credit card to run a tab! The backlit, mirrored bar houses 15 bottled beers (there's no tap) and eight wines.

Fantastic Bar in a boring terrible area. I like this place because the girls are cool and dance on tables. The scene is fun on thursday nights and I like to dance with chicas.

I enjoy my time there. Given that it is the only bar in my neighborhood, I am grateful that it is this one. Good crowd, decent drinks, perhaps a bit pricey, but pleasant all around.

we started out the night at black door the other day, the staff is nice and the crowd seems like a good mix of ppl - a good ratio and more attractive than at most bars. i agree w/ the post below that it is on the pricey side - $6 for a bottle of bud light, $8 for a weak/watery vodka soda - for more or less a chill bar.
