Birthday Celebration. I came to the restaurant with a few girlfriends to celebrate my birthday and I had a fantastic time. The service was friendly and the food was spectacular. All the girls loved dessert! The upstairs is very bright and we enjoyed the decor.

Did not do as promised. Pros- Everything tasted good, the waiter was exceptional.

Cons- Reserved a table at " the upstairs at 21", but when I arrived, they seated us downstairs saying the upstairs is not open for the evening. (The downstairs is NOT romantic.) Very expensive for an experience you can have in another restaurant for half the price. Portions were very small.

We were very disappointed.

BRAVOO!. We started the evening with a perfect chilled bottle of wine. Then proceed to have one of my all time favorite meals in NY! Since there was a big group of us, I think I had a good chance to taste almost everything on the menu. But a few standouts amongst the rest were the sauteed sweetbreads , jumbo shrimp cocktail , the roasted organic chicken and filet mignon.

It will remain all of my all time favorite places to dine in the city. Amazing food, a decor that's both beautiful yet cozy , amazing service and keeps you wanting to come back for more!

Romantic Spot. My boyfriend and I had a belated Valentine's Day dinner in the Upstairs friday night. The experience was phenomenal. Generally speaking, he is not all that into fine dining but he loved it! We had lump crab meat and black bass which were to die for and the wine was absolutely delicious. The star of the show is the captain Christopher. You could tell that he owned the room and made all of his guests feel as if they were at a friend's house rather than a fancy restaurant in midtown. We went the first time for a romantic spot, but we will go back for the incredible food and excellent service.

Wonderful Night Out. We had a great time at '21' - the restaurant upstairs was intimate and the service outstanding. We drank and talked for hours in the comfy corner table. The food was amazing and looked beautiful, almost too good to eat!! Almost! If you are looking for romantic atmosphere, great food and warm service - Upstairs at '21' is a must.

Perfect for business dinners and elegant nights out.. Had a business dinner here recently. The upstairs room is beautifully painted and decorated. The staff is very professional and the service was very prompt. Portions are a bit small, but the food was very tasty. Excellent desserts. Pricey, but a must for that special night out or business dinner. Guys, make sure you wear a jacket and tie. Dress code is strictly enforced. '21' is very traditional, but that's what is great about it.

21 is The One. For anyone who enjoys good food, excellent beverages, superb service, and a refined atmosphere, 21 Club cannot be excelled. 21's managment clearly refuses to compromise any of the standards and methods which have made that establishment the premier eatery for almost 100 years. Bravo 21! I only hope that you continue to set the benchmark for another century.

The 21 Club gets personal, with a subdued dining room serving lush, composed dishes to well-heeled foodies.. The Scene
You'll have to knock to enter this hidden dining room, a luxe windowless space featuring four wall-sized murals depicting famous landmarks throughout the seasons, as well as a handful of finery-laden tables. Diners are, as a rule, a subdued lot, but the oh-so-formal servers can be cajoled into loosening up without missing a beat.

The Food
In stark contrast to the slabs of beef so common in the downstairs dining room, this kitchen is capable of playful, smart and quite precise cooking. Take the foie gras "club" with green apple on thin, small white bread squares: It's a refreshingly irreverent way to serve the foie, and it works. And though many menu descriptions seem almost intended to make diners skeptical--wild salmon with tangerine jus and black olives, venison with Brussels sprouts dressing and lamb loin with red curry-pea shoot emulsion--time after time these dishes shine.
