The place is actually really beautiful. The bathrooms are stocked with all the girly essentials and all. The drinks are expensive but it's NY so that's normal I guess. The music, however, really sucked. I came here for my birthday and I wanted to dance. Impossible. It was all slow and loungy. At least they had an outside smoking area that was heated.

After spending an hour in the club,
paying for coat check, an overpriced 12 oz bottle of water (6$... yeah... I know) I was randomly approached by a bouncer and told to "take a walk"
I knew what he was doing, but I had no idea why. I wasn't drunk, I wasn't bumping into people, I wasn't touching, grabbing, doing anything suspicious, I was dressed up, and I was just vibing out the music... He kicked me out to the curb, when I asked what exactly I did wrong he told me to "get lost" and barely would even get me my coat. He threw the coat at me and told me to get lost once more.
As a local DJ in my own area this was a huge insult but a huge insight to how this club operates it's business.

Things going behind management...
I know writing this won't change how this club operates or would it not raise attention to Nicolas Matar himself..
I am not going to tell you which part is unfair about it ,but all of it so you get a logical idea.
it was 22:15, 15 minutes late, there was a guy with a paper board and checked my name in the list, showed and validated the credit card I purchased with and my drivers license, he was kind.
Then 1 minute later , without any supervision or anything a guy with a black shirt from inside came in and started checking people's ids again. When he checked my driver's license he did not even get a well look or see if it scans or anything.. and shook his head.. I said why 2 times.. and no response.
I turned 21 this january and i have never been rejected. I go to bars weekly with my friends, liquor shops, casinos in AC and clubs.. Well today I am going to speak to the manager of the club and tell them what happened.

NYC is laughable.
People always talk about NYC being one of the top club scenes in the world.....Wrong. If Cielo is any indication then the world is in trouble. Cielo is a joke. It was just laughable it was so bad.
We all know people do not get on the internet to write some glowing review about a place. They get on the internet because they are mad or pissed. So all of the glowing reviews about this place are probably staff or owners or promoters.
Telling you everything wrong has already been mentioned in the other 78 reviews so I won't even go into my story. Just read for yourself and you can consider yourself warned if you do happen to go to Cielo.

Get over yourself, Cielo.. Get over yourself, Cielo. I hope you go bankrupt in this economy. I used to love this place. This neighborhood used to be about hearing fresh, new music, and rebelling against cabaret laws, but has now completely gone overboard with elitism and douche-baggery. They have become complete !@#s at the door. I was invited to a friend's record release party Monday night. There was no one there and they had barely been open for 5 minutes. They weren't validating the highly publicized e-flyer list (no cover before 11) system for my friend's record release party. I was just going to stay for an hour to hear the music. Also the required coat check is a pain in the ass, considering it's 10 degrees out if you want to go out to the back for a break. If I were 17 and trying to break curfew at the Limelight with a fake ID, I may have more of a sense of excitement about getting past obnoxious coat check girls and bouncers. Otherwise, I'm too old for this crap.
