“The best thing about Otto's besides the cold beer, sweet drinks and awesome bartenders, is the fact that it's one of the last cool places to hang out in the East Village or all of NYC for that matter.”

“The drinks are pretty cheap, unless they are the insane TIKI DRINKS and frozen stuff, those get a bit pricey but, taste awesome.”

This space, formerly Barmacy, has become an incredible temple of Polynesian kitsch, with matching drinks (especially the Shrunken Skirt).…

beware of the promoter. If you are a band playing there, watch out for the crazy promoter. He's really mean and he tried to beat up our band.

Otto's. Killer vibe! Booking lacks something to be desired, but great place for unknown talent to be heard. I would go back!

Kick A** Place!. We were looking for a cool place & a Scorpion Bowl. Although they didn't have the Scorpion Bowl - the Volcano was an excellent substitute! Staff was very friendly - we happend to catch the Ruffian Arms show - AWESOME!! We got wasted, had a blast, met some cool people - couldn't ask for a better time. Reminds me of places that used to be all over the village that no longer exist. Thanks for a great place - we will definitely be back!!

The Worst Service in NYC. First off, I only went to Otto's because my ex-boyfriend's band was playing there, but we ended up getting mistreated by the staff in addition to terrible service. In fact, the bartenders scolded us "for not tipping enough," though we were tipping the standard 20 percent. The girls behind the bar were rude and just plain mean, but not in a cute way, in a mean way. I will never go back.

awesome bar & greatest bartender. My friends suggested that we go to hear live music... when we walk in the band wasn't playing, but Iron Maiden was!!!!! The bartender(Pam the Metal QUEEN)had the best selection of metal on her i-pod! We ordered off the tiki menu and the concoctions were sassy....but even better... were Pam's margaritas, not the fruity kind, but the kind that make you feel like you are in Mexico...wonderful.When the band did finally start to play, we sat in the back room & rocked out, all in all a wonderful night in this east village bar!!

My first bar crush since I was 22. A few after work Thursdays have left an indellible tiki god scar on my heart and my hands busily filling out applications to become a regular at this above par dive bar. Starting with [SERVICE] Otto's can't disappoint. The bartender working the days I go is a sassy redhead (Mishelle) that's easy on the eyes and quick on the pour. Making sure my bourbon stays full while juggling three or four customers at a time is talent enough to make my heart skip a beat but being silver tongued enough to convince the king of beer and a bourbon to try a drink with fruit juice and a streamered straw has sent shrunken tiki stars glittering out of my eyes. Her I-pod selection doesn't let you down either as her selection of brutally beautiful music eases the harsh transition from daylight hours into the night when dj's take the booth and bands take the back room stage. Which brings me to [MUSIC]. Unpretentious working DJ's are always a joy to encounter and the one's at Otto's earn high marks, entertaining a request if it gels with their set -but I'd recommend trusting their judgment. The band roster is quite wide but mostly local with some really great bands doing tour stops and currently Susquehannah Industrial Tool and Die doing a rockabilly residence. [DECOR/ATMOSPHERE] The interior is dark and distracting enough that I could spend hours alone there without having the lack of some intriguing eye candy to look at. The crowd is diverse and as friendly as your average person out to have a good time can get without seeming like a creepy uncle. Also if you need a distraction I highly recommend big Buck Hunter (who the hell is this CAI guy anyway?). All said and done: I don't know why they call it a suffering b@stard this tiki watering hole leaves me feeling anything but.

My Favorite Everything!. I actually bartend there, and I have to say I could not work with an effen cooler crew of people than Ottos. I showed up at their door after the demise of the Korova Milk Bar that I managed for 6 years and they welcomed me with open arms. It's actually awesome to see people noticing the effort put into the crowd to have a good time there...

It's usually where I go when I'm not even working!
