I Heart The PIT. I really like The PIT because not only do they have great shows, they but have great classes taught by great teachers. I am currently in Level 4 with Nate Starkey and our class is having a blast. I also really want to take the class that they offer on voiceover technique.

The other comedy theaters can be "intimidating" or "clicky" but I have never felt that way at The PIT. It's kind of like one big happy family where you can meet lots of cool people, watch hilarious shows, network, learn, play and perform!

The best comedy venue in NYC. I love The PIT! They have free improv shows every Wednesday night, and free "jams" several times a week where anyone can get up and perform. The shows on other nights are really fun as well. I recommend Harvard Sailing Team, Centralia, Kidnapped By Craigslist, and Handsometown. I took improv classes here also, and I had a blast and met so many people. The PIT also has cheap beer/wine, and it is an intimate venue so there is not a bad seat in the house. Check it out! You won't regret it.

decent theatre. I'd generally recommend the theatre for decent improv shows. I thought the shows were pretty good overall and not too expensive

Affectionately referred to as the PIT, this cozy comedy club packs a punchline.. On an unsuspecting block in Chelsea, this second-floor theater proves unexpectedly lively. Each night, the oddly shaped, white-walled lobby and adjoining 40-seat black-box theater fills with energetic 20-somethings and comedy nerds eager to learn and watch the fine art of instantaneous comedy. During the day, the space doubles as a school, offering a variety of classes, electives and workshops for aspiring performers and comedy writers. It's no surprise that the PIT consistently attracts some of New York's most talented rising comedians to its stage: Owner Ali Farahnakian is an original member of the "Upright Citizens Brigade" and a former "SNL" writer.

Gimme a P! Gimme an I! Gimme a T!. Cozy is rarely a word used in the context of comedy theaters...but that's what the PIT is...a warm, cozy space where you can watch up and coming performers...and maybe even get up there yourself!
