Editorial Review for Rice to Riches – by Allison Austin

The Scene
If a group of rice pudding-addicted aliens ever set up a shop in Nolita, this is what it would look like. And the color scheme--bright orange, pink, yellow and stark white--along with neon lighting, tables suspended from the ceiling and a profusion of flat-screen TVs, makes it official: This is stimulation central.

The Food

You'd better like rice pudding, because that's all they serve. There are 18 flavors, plus three seasonal flavors, to choose from, with cheeky names like "Stubborn Banana" and "Melon-choly." Some flavors, such as "Qualified Lemon" and "Strawberry Floozy," are so over-the-top and mega-flavored that a few bites are more than enough, though children may enjoy them. Grown-ups should opt for the mellower choices, such as "Endangered Maple" with tart blueberries, "Understanding Vanilla" and green tea with black cherries (a special).

The Extras

The pudding is served in groovy custom-made plastic containers--the small size can be filled with two flavors, while the large container is ideal for taking home dessert for a group--and is eaten with matching spoons.

If you hate rice pudding, then you've never had Rice to Riches. It is THE BEST rice pudding you will ever eat. They have so many flavors, its tough to narrow it down to a couple, but we tried man made mascarpone, almond shmalmond, and tiramisu...they were AHHHHHMAZING! My husband doesn't like rice pudding, but when he tasted mine I couldn't pull it away from him. He's hooked now! He tried other rice puddings when we got back to Texas and none could compare, so we have it shipped now...YES they ship!! It's cheaper than flying to NY every month and it comes packaged well! GO TO RICE TO RICHES WHEN YOU VISIT NY! You won't be sorry.

Pros: Thumbs waaaaaaay up for the rice pudding! EXCELLENT!!

Cons: I wish they sold huge tubs of it!

I am a fan of your wonderful rice puddings. You have truly created a unique product and people come from all over the world to have a taste. You are definitely a smart entrepreneur and I believe, as most of your customers do, that you have created a lasting brand. So, because I care about this wonderful planet that has been created for us, I am kindly asking you to consider using recyclable containers for your rice pudding. I feel as though it is such a waste to be throwing out these containers that can never be used again. It is very bad for the environment. You no doubt have created the best rice pudding, please create containers that are more environmental friendly.
