Editorial Review for Company Bar & Grill – by Lisa Marie Rovito

The Scene
It's nice to know there are still decent bars where one can show up and just...be. Disappear behind the tall walls of a black vinyl booth, tilt back a scotch on the rocks and don't come out till the rent's due. It's that kind of den--soothing in its darkness and its lack of a screaming theme. Retro touches, like a pressed-tin ceiling and checkerboard floor, are as welcoming as the bartender who's tuned the TV to "Happy Days," with "Sanford and Son" up next.

The Draw
While the hookah in the shrine-like alcove and colorful glass-globe lanterns are mesmerizing throwbacks to another time, the bar is brand-new and quietly proud of it. That means it's clean, well-cared for and equipped with a DVD player and flat-screen TV.

4 Star Rating: Recommended

I second all of the four and five star reviews here. I recommend this bar to all of my firends and I go there every chance I get. The only thing from keeping me from going more often is their decision to serve their tap beer in mugs instead of pint glasses. The way I go through beer I can burn through my wallet pretty quick on their 11 ounce mugs of stella for 5 bucks per. That aside, the food is great and the atmosphere is perfect.

Pros: Food, atmosphere, general vibe.

Cons: The beer is too expensive and served in mugs instead of pint glasses.

- Deviled eggs with candied bacon, sloppy joe sliders, an awesome cubano and the best burger I've had in the city in a loooong time - topped with balsamic onions, white cheddar and chipotle mayo served with these killer hand cut fries. mmmmm..... burger..... aaaaaahhhhh.... You can check out the menu at menupages.
