The Overview
Radio City Music Hall was built as part of midtown Manhattan's Rockefeller Center complex in 1932. In 1979, it was declared a landmark and saved from threat of demolition. The theater has undergone extensive restoration in recent years, including the recreation of the "History of Theatre" wall covering inside the auditorium, replacement of all 5,901 seats and re-leafing of the ceilings.
The Draw
These days, the theater stages star-studded events ranging from the Grammy Awards to the Moscow Circus, and even occasionally plays home court for the New York Liberty women's basketball team. But the staple of this American stage has always been the Rockettes, a team of 36 long-legged dancers, and their annual "Radio City Christmas Spectacular."

We'd walked by Radio City Music Hall so many times and not once did we manage to set foot inside. We decided to change that and play tourist; we signed up for the Radio City Stage Door Tour....while the tour was at times very hokey (meeting a Rockette and taking pictures with said Rockette) overall is was a wonderful tour and a great learning experience. We really enjoyed learning more about the inner workings of Radio City and more about the history of the building, the people, and the shows held inside. Don't miss this tour in you're at all interested in Radio City Music Hall.

My wife and I come to NYC every year from Florida and bring our adult kids as part of their Christmas gift. We go to the Christmas Spectacular every year, even though the show was pretty much the same until the 75th. No matter; great show in a spectacular venue. Live camels in the Nativity scene! The building itself is magnificent. Absolute must see. New York, New York.

Radio City Music Hall is still one of the best Christmas traditions. My mom went every year when she was small and she finally took me to see the Rockettes and the theatre. It is absolutely beautiful and the show was a lot of fun. I can't believe the stage is large enough for live animals in the show. I would go every year if I could.
