A fun, easy experience creating the dress of my dreams!

Working with Mika was the most memorable, fun, and stress-free part of planning my wedding.

I live on the west coast and travel back to NY just a few times a year, and Mika was so accommodating in working with my schedule. We even met to do initial measurements while she was traveling through California (in a very memorable rendezvous in an airport parking garage). I met her three more times in NY for a muslin fitting, a dress fitting, and a final fitting weeks before the wedding. Her studio is a warm, intimate setting, and Mika made me and my family feel so at home. She’s sweet and full of energy, and it was always such a delight to see her.

Mika worked with me to customize every detail to exactly what I was looking for. My wedding dress ended up being more perfect than I could have imagined, and it fit flawlessly. She knew how to work with my body shape to create the most flattering fit (and miraculously create curves where I thought none existed). She also designed a gorgeous, unique veil using the same lace as in my dress.

Though strapless, I didn’t have to worry about pulling the dress up throughout my wedding day. And while it was a humid, 95-degree day, I was comfortable in my lightweight dress. The train busseled nicely after the ceremony and was easy to move in.

For any bride looking for a custom wedding dress, I can’t say enough about Mika. She’s a professional, amazingly talented designer, and she’ll work with you to create the dress of your dreams.

The perfect wedding dress!!!

Mika created an amazing wedding dress for me, she is fantastic to work with and so talented. She listened to my general ideas and sketched out the exact wedding dress that I had been hunting for. Mika took the time to work with me on all of the dress details including creating beautiful handmade swarovski crystal designs and fitting the dress so exactly to my figure. She is patient and walked me through step by step. I really enjoyed working with Mika through out the entire design and creation process. I received so many compliments from guests at my wedding! The dress was so comfortable and easy to dance in that I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the night. I love that my dress is truly one of a kind! Thanks Mika!!!

Tribeca's hidden treasue

I knew I had to have Mika make my dress once I got engaged! (she was referred to me by friends). At our first meeting, I told Mika some general details I wanted on my gown and within minutes, she had sketched the perfect dress! She really listened and helped me visualize my dress. We started with the initial fitting and I loved watching my dress in the creation process with each visit to New York. The end result was a stunning dress! Mika added front and back pleated details and strategically applied lace appliqués all over the dress. Hand-beaded Swarovski crystals were sewn onto each lace appliqué. I loved the low cut back that was embellished with covered buttons. The dress was light-weight and comfortable so I could move around freely all day. I also wore Mika's custom bridal wedges which matched the dress perfectly. It had covered buttons at the back with satin ribbon ankle wrap. They were so comfortable and the blue stitching detail on the quilted sock was so special. The shoes came packaged in a pretty blue box which I now use to store wedding keepsakes. :) She also customized my cathedral veil with some of the same lace details as my dress. Mika is so talented and such a pleasure to work with!! Her energy is contagious! I'm lucky to have found an amazing designer and friend.

The dress that's still talked about

I'm not your traditional bride. I wanted a pale yellow ethereal dress, with subtle embroidery and almost no structure, for my my petite, curvy figure. My top concern was freedom of movement. I don't like anything to be stiff, heavy or constricting. I had some very specific ideas in mind in terms of the flowing shape & feel of the skirts and body skimming bodice, but I wasn't sure it could be pulled off with my body type. But Mika did such an awesome job translating my ideas into a dress that looked beautiful on me!

I especially liked seeing the dress being made from scratch, step by step, too. That was really neat. Mika was so flexible about any questions or changes I had in mind. She was clear about estimating how much the dress would cost based on certain factors that I could add on. Her estimates ended up being very accurate, so I felt like she was honest and her price reasonable.

Also, we had a lot of fun! I really enjoyed Mika's engaging personality, which is such a nice treat for any bride. Or, at least a treat for brides like me, who were planning a wedding from afar and stressing out over everything!

The only advice I would suggest is to try to book her early and to make yourself available for extra time (just in case) in the end. Or, even better, ask that the dress be completed a few weeks before you'll need it to be wherever it needs to be.... We actually ran out of time because my wedding was all the way in Sonoma, California and I had to leave to prepare out there before I could see the very final version of the dress. Luckily it arrived exactly as perfect as promised but I confess to feeling a little concerned that I didn't get to have a final fitting in the completed dress. SO start early! And book extra time to see the dress in its final stages, too. A wedding is so exciting that any opportunity you can take to ensure less stress, or less concern, will be priceless!!

MIKA IS AN ARTIST

Mika creates "works of art". Several years ago I met Mika in her relaxed showroom. I knew upon meeting her that the experience would be one I'd never forget. Mika's creations is one you'll treasure forever.The custom beading the intricate embroidery the movement of the fabrics. I now own three of Mika's creations and each tome a watch those folks walk the "red carpet" I say ...i'f only they knew Mika. If you ever dreamed of the perfect dress or gown i can tell you Mika will make you dreams come true and even those you thought weren't possible.
