“Great food, great ambience, great service.”
“coffee/tea. The ambiance was great.”
“Great location, and generic but ok bistro food but why bother when the staff are rude, sullen, have an attitude, and obviously don't enjoy what they do.”
“The menu is a bit overwhelming but the standard French fare was solid.”
“good place for couples or small groups of friends (no more than three).”
“We were able to order right away -- but over half an hour later no food or server to be found.”
“. . . I was greeted immediately each time and upon leaving the restaurant, the Manager waved good-bye with a huge smile, as she did with every customer!”
Located in the heart of New York City's West Village, A.O.C. opened its doors in early 2003 and has become a part of the historic and
beautiful neighborhood. A.O.C. is an authentic French Bistro serving classic French food along with delicious and fresh seafood daily.
Our extensive menu is a collection of family recipes of classic French fare handed down to chef/owner, Romain Bonnans. Savor everything from Omelets to Feuille de Brique for brunch. For dinner you might try our Moules Marinieres (a favorite among our customers), a classic Salad Nicoise or a Lobster Risotto, all while enjoying the casual atmosphere. In the summer months, relax in our outdoor garden and experience a little bit of France.

Great food. Small intimate french place with a calming atmosphere, excellent service and food. A good place for couples or small groups of friends (no more than three). It is a bit on the small side but not cramped.
Great food, friendly bar staff. If you can eat beef, try the hanger steak. The burgers are also very good. I agree that bottles are more worthwhile, though they usually serve Hoegaarden and other beers on tap. There are many restaurants to choose from in this area, though AOC really has great service and food.
Ok Ambiance, but EXCELLENT FOOD. I was at AOC earlier tonight when outing with two of my friends. The decoration is lovely but the music was fairly American, country songs that does not remind me a bit of Paris or Europe. The food was most excellent, I ordered the endive salad and the vegetable risotto, the salad was so big that I didn't get a chance to finish the risotto, which was nonetheless possibly the best I've ever had. Oh, and they also have a VERY cute bartender, I am only 17 so I didn't go to the bar, but one more reason for going.
never been but saw it from street and it looks nice.. the place looked way cool when i walked by it in the west village. I got a menu to go and here we are leaving my mark so i can go back and visit the place for food.
Consistently good food, friendly service. I've been to AOC several times, and everytime the food has been great and the service attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy and the garden in back is lovely. All in all, dining at AOC has been a great experience, one that I would highly recommend.
very romantic. Great food, great ambience, great service. Except for the one bus boy who looked down my blouse as he was putting down my food.
Good Food, Friendly Service. A.O.C. looked inviting from the outside so we decided to check it out. We had a really friendly waiter. The wine & beer selection was good as was the tasty cuisine. I don't often enjoy popping in to places but A.O.C. was a stroke of lgood uck.
Mediocre food, horrible service. I went to AOC with two friends on a monday evening. It was not crowded. We ordered a a cheese and meat platter and some fried shrimp to start with, and some salads as entrees. We didn't see our waitress after she took our order at all. And most of the time we had to chase down another waiter. It was difficult to get his attention by just saying "excuse me" when he would walk by. Our salads were brought out when we were still having appetizers. The duck salad that I ordered had hardly any duck in it. After we finished dinner, we stayed there for another 45 minutes trying to get our plates cleared and the bill. Very french service. I would not recommend this place.
Just eat and drink before you come.
After sitting, we waited 20 min. to get asked if needed a drink. This is also when the waiter told us that half the menu was sold out. After ordering our drinks and food all at once, it took another 35 min. to get our appetizer.
Half an hour after our appetizer was cleared, the waiter told us it would take more time to get our main courses. Then he disappeared.
I finally cancelled our order, the waiter came back in 5 min with our plates. Unfortunately, I accepted the food.
After all this "cooking time" for our salads, mine turned out to be completely empty of the main ingredient (duck)
After 25 minutes of trying to get the bill settled, we just hunted around and found the manager. He was nice enough to take our drinks off the bill, but frankly, I'll never get those 2 hours back.
RUDE RUDE and RUDE. some old drunk guy who claims he is an American born in France seems to be a regular at the bar, he sat down next to us, listened to our whole conversation then started aggressing us verbally, and the waiter took the longest time to intervene. we even feared to leave the place. our worst experience in a very long time.
