“This is a very nice looking and comfortable place.”

“The shrimp cocktail, although pricy at first glance, I realized was worth every penny once it landed on the table (big shrimp).”
Fast service during lunch. Had lunch here today. Tried the house made hummus and the angus burger with sweet potato fries. Service was pretty quick even though the place was packed with people. Our food arrived pretty fast. The burger was cooked exactly medium rare though I felt the giant brioche bun was slightly over-sized for the small beef patty. The sweet potato fries were perfectly spiced. The hummus wasn't that great.
Last night a bar manager saved my life.....
My boyfriend and I ended up throwing our speakeasy birthday party here on Saturday, when our previous location (a seriously LAME assed bar that shall remain nameless!) fell through at 2:30 that afternoon. I called CRT at around 4pm, after striking out with three other locations. It was important that we found a location that would let us bring in our own DJ setup and decorations, and was also easy to get to. I spoke with Nicole first; I explained the situation and how I was in a bind. She immediately called her manager Chad (she pulled him out of an event that was already in progress), and I explained the situation to him. He said he'd call me back in 10 minutes to let me know. He called me back in 5 and said we were good to go, same deal as we had at the other location. We weren't able to start playing our music until after 10pm, due to the other event going on, but considering that's what time they normally close, we had no issues with that.
Chad and his staff went out of their way to accommodate us in any way they could, even kept the kitchen open an extra hour so people could order food. When it didn't look like we were going to make our bar minimum, he offered to just keep the bar open to the public so that we could count that. He even donned a gangster hat while serving the drinks, and I swear I caught him dancing more than once. :)
I don't know how many times I thanked him that night, but I still think he deserves a few more.
A Truly Wonderful Experience.
My lady and I found this wonderful restaurant through an AAA tour book. As she used to fish in Croton reservoir, we were intrigued and visited the place after seeing a show.
It was an incredible experience! We sat at the bar for a couple of hours prior to having dinner. While there are multiple small-screen TVs scattered throughout the place, there was no sound, and the music that was playing was in no way intrusive.
We each had the price fixe dinner. I had the salmon, and my lady had the skirt steak. The portions, flavor, and presentation were wonderful beyond belief! The service was excellent, our waiter Chad II was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the homemade cheesecake for dessert and it was a perfect followup to a perfect meal.
The wine choices available complimented our meal and the cost of the meal was unbelievably low given the location.
This is a place not to be missed!
No harm, no foul.
We ate here because it was close to where we work. I noticed that the lower area seems nicer and more intimate, but I've only been seated on the top floor. The dining area there is very thin; the person on the aisle will be zoomed by the staff all night. The floor boards shake when they stomp by. But you get used to it. I liked the lighting and ambience...except that the other half of the room, 6 feet away, is a sports bar. The place suffers from a serious identity crisis.
We split the mussells and chorizo app, which were pleasantly surprised to discover was big enough for two. Quite satisfying. But our steaks were ho-hum. I found my Steak Fritte to be a bit chewey. My date's surf and turf was fine. At least the temps were well executed.
The service was helpful, although they rushed us at first. Eventually they left us alone and everything was fine.
Good place, I recommend.. It's rare to find a place that I'm not disappointed with. I've had several meals here and several cocktails and have not been disappointed yet. I've had dinner and drinks upstairs and I've been downstairs at happy hour with my work group. It's real popular with the people I know. I recommend.
Avoid At Any Cost. This place used to have a great lunch. Now it seems like they can't even be bothered to try. Right through the door and the hostess couldn't pull herself away from doing nothing but lean on her station to greet you. When the food was delivered it was served on burned rolls and buns. The "cabbage slaw" was some of the worst I ever tasted. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Fantastic 80s night. Attended their 80s party a few Saturdays ago. Music was fantastic. I had contacted the promoter ahead of time and was able to reserve a table (for free) since it was my friend's birthday party. At first the crowd was a bit odd, but as the night progressed it improved. All in all we had an awesome time.
Great Salmon. The simply grilled salmon really does rank up there among the top that NYC restaurants have to offer. Not your typical dry grilled salmon, but juicy and uniquely flavorful. Contrary to these negative reviews, the staff was nice and capable.
SUPER TUNA; not-so-super wait staff. I've gone to Croton twice to get the tuna - it is absolutely delicious! Both times I've taken new people with me to try it and everyone has been completely blown away by the dish. The steak is also good, but not memorable. The only disappointment is the wait staff. Both times I had very cold and unattentative waiters (and I believe one time was a manager).
Terrific. We went for an early supper before a show at MSG; we were greeted warmly, seated promptly at a table by the window. Our waitress brought over the pre-theatre menu when she found out we were going to a show, reccommending it (rightly so) as a good value. The grilled salmon was perfectly cooked, my mom's steak was scrumptious. The portions were ample, the wine list basic but ample, and the decor. The bar crowd looked happy, and well out of their teens.
