The Scene
Don't ask why a ski-motif lodge should plunk down in Gramercy. Just give thanks for the general campiness of it all, from the rinky-dink fireplace in back to the picnic tables and painted signs for boat rentals and bait. Nothing much is authentic--the antler chandeliers look mass-produced--but drinks are cheap, TVs abound and at least it's something different. Ten beers served in chilled mugs range from PBR to Black Bear Stout and, when the mood strikes, a Jager shot-machine is willing.
The Draw
To come to the lodge and not coax a dollar into the Big Buck Hunter video game is grounds for removal. It's fun, addictive, and completely un-P.C. Manhandle the orange plastic rifle for five rounds of deer hunting--a real head on the back wall serves as inspiration. While the frozen margaritas do nothing for your aim, devotees swear it's better than 60 minutes with their shrink.

Went to BBL Friday night and had a great time!!! The witty bartender made me laugh so hard I'll be back just for her. She's rough/sarcastic but sweet when you realize that she's being facetious (Lisha she's called). PBR's were cheap and a couple free shots were thrown my way;-) I will defo be back.

A group of use who are loyal customers will never come back here again. The bouncers for some strange reason love harassing the women who go her. The men I guess are ok but we kept noticing how this short balding bouncer kept manhandling this female patron. The poor girl kept trying to explain to him how rudely the bartender kept treating her. But the meat head wouldn’t give her a chance to speak. The other crazy thing is, bad-drink making bartender kept lifting up her shirt in the bar, I don’t know why because the juke boxed sucked and our Saturday was ruined at this spot. After the bouncer yelled at the girl all of her nine friends just walked out. It isn’t worth patronizing this place. They treat the patrons like they are idiots who don’t even know what kind of drink there drinking so Black Bear Lodge will make them what they think they should have to drink and not what they ordered. I guess that’s why the girl and her group was so angry because if you order Jack Sours, you should get Jack Sours. I wished the girl should have yelled at the ugly bouncer but then he might have gotten more idiotic on her. My Patron drink seemed very watered-down also and Black Bear just lost four more good patrons.

I planned a New Years Eve party at the Black Bear Lodge and it was great. Belle and the rest of the staff was so helpful in the planning, the renting of the two back rooms, the drinks, the decorations and anything else we needed. People came up to me and said it was the best New Years ever, and I know that a lot of it was due to the awesomeness of the BBL.
