Deep in the bowels of Wall Street lies this shiny spot decorated with gleaming mint-green walls and framed French stock certificates that hint at the neighboring New York Stock Exchange. Bountiful savory dishes and baked treats are all baked on the premises.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Financier has several outposts in the Financial District, including a larger Cedar Street location.
The Extras:
Before deciding on a pastry, be sure to take a peek at the variety of house-made gelato at the store's rear entrance.

Fantastic Pastries

by tstafford

Once I discovered this shop, I visited every day during my stay. The pastry is the main draw - the strawberry-rhubarb tartlette is amazing and I had one almost daily. The pistachio macarons are also fabulous. Also the Frasier, Berries Tartlette and Opera are very good. The hot chocolate is just ok, but still good if you have it with a pastry plus it comes with a tiny cake. There is always a vegetarian option for both soup and sandwich. The corn chowder is a bit plain, but still nice on a cold day. The vegetarian panini I had was surprisingly good. Service can be curt, especially when they are busy they can be very impatient with you - plus you have to keep an eye out to ensure that your pastry is delivered... for some reason they don't bring it out at the same time even though they will take your table number away before bringing the pastry dessert. Go try the strawberry-rhubarb tartlette and get a macaron to-go for later.

  • Pros: Amazing Desserts
  • Cons: Service during rush hours, long lines, you may have to wait for a table

SHARP, Foreign object in my pastry!!!

by trulydissa

I ordered a pastry from here...the small individual ones. I too it back to my office and bit down. To my and my co-workers shock, I s_xp-it out a sharp hard foreign object!!! I immediately took it back and was treated like c_r _p.

They still have not fully addressed this and I am beyond dissappointed. BEWARE WHAT YOU MAY FIND NEXT time you go here. I would not EVER recommend this place. Do yourself a favor and go a few more steps to get to BOULEY Bakery inTribeca or Payards.

With what they charge you for a pastry and the poor quality of service, Id skip them and go someplace else. They are obviously so focused on the bottom line that the quality control took a major nosedive. Id definitely not bring a child. Adults...eat at your own risk!

  • Pros: desserts look appealing
  • Cons: poor service, poor quality control, very crowded and loud, pushy and rushed cashier/staff
