In Short – From the vintage barbershop pole beckoning outside to the peach walls and striped curtains within, veteran stylist and colorist Ann Minahan has created a vibrant yet intimate setting for her one-woman operation. With a background in Native American cultural studies and training in Robert Craig's ammonia- and alcohol-free coloring technique, Minahan is well versed in herbs, plant extracts and chemical alternatives. She uses only natural products and has been known to custom blend conditioners and other agents for extra-fussy scalps.

When to Go:
Ann (who still does location shoots and celebrity styling) is strict about her hours. Her last appointment is at a punctual 7pm. For those with an off-hour hair emergency, she'll help if she can.

You must make an appointment--no walk-ins are accepted.

Riah stocks uncommon, quality botanical products, such as AG and La Coupe. One of their color systems is Robert Craig's ammonia-, peroxide-, and alcohol-free line.

The best salon you will ever find........

This salon is the place to go! The haircuts and styling are "off the hook"! I've never been disappointed with a cut or color or anything else, and I always feel beautiful when I walk out of the salon. Anne's artistic talent is outstanding.

My two cents

This place is so low key you could easily walk past it, but amazingly this where NY's finest cutters and colorists work. I've had colors, cuts and big-occasion up-dos and I've never been anything less than delighted. Get an appointment with either Ann or Devon -- they're both genius.

Best Haircut

I don't live in NYC anymore, but every time I come back to visit from Florida I go back to see my old friend Ann for a haircut. She gives me a perfect haircut every time. I would definitely recommend that family and friends use her. You won't be disappointed.

Riah is an amazing salon that offers gentle, cutting edge hair care in an intimate&friendly setting. My hair has been transformed since finding RIAH and I will gladly travel two hours for my appointments!! Ann&Devon are great!!
