Best kept Secret !. So a friend of mine who stayed at Warwick Hotel highly recommended Murals on 54 and of course I left a very satisfied AND an educated customer. The place is beautifully designed with history, and tons of it (Thanks to the very knowledgeable host "Bobby") with murals painted on the high-ceiling walls. The food was superbly made. I tried their skirt steak and being that I am a big steak eater, it was surprisingly very moist and tender.. Compliments to the Chef! My girlfriend tried their special, a risotto dish and an a definite thumbs up. The staff was very polite and knew their wine selection. Speaking of the wine selection, the wine list has a huge array of great wines, from half bottles to whatever else your heart desires. Overall I had a really nice experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone, regardless of being a guest at the hotel. Oh and I hear they may start serving brunch on the weekends, so I'll be on the look out!
Just Average.
Ok, I've only heard good things about this place so when I ordered my chicken, I was surprised that it was so dry and that the couscous had no flavor and was actually pretty gross. I guess that's what I get for ordering chicken at a steak/burger joint. I've learned my lesson.. I think? The drinks were super strong which means no complaints from me! The salad was deliciousioso!! My friend ordered the steak and it was cooked perfectly and I had to take a bite, but that only made me angrier at myself for not ordering steak.. =(
The service was very professional, and really polite but kinda slow.
Great find!. I happened to come across Murals on 54 through Open Table when I was looking for an Italian restaurant near the theatre and was very very pleased with my find. The floor to ceiling murals in the dining room are beautiful!! And the history of them is so interesting. The food (which I was told that it is their new Italian menu) was great! We had the Lamb Osso Buco and my wife had the Branzino. Great selection on the wine list too! Everything was amazing. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. I think I found a new hot spot in Manhattan. Bravo!! We WILL be back
Avoid at all costs. Go in and see the exquisite murals by all means, but do NOT dine there. The worst food and service that I have experienced in New York in a long time. I went for the Christmas buffet. The roast beef was raw, the turkey was dry and the vegtables were cold. The wait help was helpless. This could be great restuarant. What a shame.
would not go back. Was seated on time, had 1 person taking all orders. Received our food and asked for salt and pepper (no tables had salt and pepper on them) and never did receive the salt. Service was a little slow. Would not go back again.
Do not be seduced by a pretty face.. This restaurant inspired high hopes due to the other reviews. Knew it wouldn't be great but it is convenient to City Center and other venues so good would have been very acceptable. The room was pleasant but the food was just bearable to awful. My husbands chicken needed a magnifying glass to find on the plate and it looked like it had been left in the oven for weeks; brown, dry and tasteless. Never again, eater beware! artartart
Great Service, Food and Decor. I went to Murals on 54 after a recommendation from a friend, and I found it superb. It was great value for money. The food was great - sea bass was impeccably done. The waiters were attentive and our glasses were always refilled. The server had good recommendations and the quite atmosphere is perfect for dates. The murals on the wall were beautiful - hence the name "Murals on 54". Overall, it was a delightful meal and we enjoyed ourselves very much.
A quiet surprise. Attentive and caring service. Water glass was never empty. (did the busboy attend to only our table?) I have a wheat allergy and the waiter made sure that everything I ordered was wheat free. Pre theater dinner a great value. The restaurant is attractive, quiet and we will certainly be back soon. Convenient to City Center, MTC and Carnegie Hall.
murals. i went there on a date and thought it was the perfect choice. the environment was quiet enough that we could hear each other yet there were others around. the paintings were beautiful and gave us somehting to talk about. I had the sea bass and it was GREAT!!! highly reccomend it for occasions where you want an upscale yet casual dining experience while focusing on your company.
what a pitty.... i went to Murals w/ a colleague of mine, and i picked it due to its ratings on citysearch, and it did not meet expectations. The carpaccio i got was very tasty, and the warm bread was good, but our main course took 25 min to arrive, and the waiter never apologized. My plate was burning, b/c my salmon was waiting under the lamp for a .... LONG time... and the vegetables were dried out and cold. When i told the manager he was very apologetic, and the waiter then came by and apologized by saying htat he had forgotten to put in the second order, and by the time he did, my salmon was done a long time ago... then we wanted to try the dessert, DO NOT GET THE TIRAMISU, b/c it is literally frozen, and you need a knife, and "man"power to cut it. I was dissappointed!
