One of my favorite tattoos on my body. Chantal is very creative as well as artistic. I would recommend anyone to her. She has some serious talent that needs to be discovered.

TERRIBLE TATTOO, MESSED UP MY CHEST. I got my first tattoo at uptown a few weeks ago. It was a script piece on my chest done by "Spenna". He totally messed it up. I had to get the whole thing re-done, and the artist who re-did it said this guy must have been on illegal substances to go out of the lines so much. He also didn't fill in the letters, it just looked like charcoal pencil. Maybe the positive reviews of him are for when he is not high. The design was bad and it looked like scribble. If I was not such a forgiving person I would hurt him for this. I can't believe I paid 80 dollars for this guy to permanently mess up my body. Now I'm stuck with a design that isn't that nice. DO NOT EVER GO TO UPTOWN TATTOO IN HARLEM. EVER. EVER.

Nothing Fancy But Good Work. I have had tatts done in Montclair, NJ and in the Bronx and I was happy with the work for the most part. My fiance and I tried Uptown Tattoos back in 2004 and have been back to them about 3 times for me and about 4 times for him. We even took his son there for his first tattoo. The place is conveniently located near the Apollo Theatre but the location is not all that. The place is very very basic and nothing as far as decor goes. But I wasn't representing Better Homes & Gardens, I was just trying to get a nice tatt by some folks I can relate to. Anthony at the front desk may look a bit unuaual to some but don't let the facial tatts and piercings fool you - he is a sweetheart of a person. Spenna (I think that's how you spell it) has been doing our work since '04 and we keep going back. He free-handed a black tribal design on my back and he did it in pieces and I love it. Folks are always commenting on it and I love that I will never see quite the same design on anyone else. I would definitely recommend this for those who are really into the art and into the karma of the folks creating the art. If you want someone to serve you cappuccino while you wait in the plush waiting room, this is so not for you! LOL!
