DO NOT USE THIS VENUE FOR A WEDDING. Recently had my daughter's wedding here ~ MISTAKE !!

The cocktail area was not ready on time because they booked a party earlier & didn't have enough time to clean & set-up. There were supposed to be cocktail tables set-up there were none. Staff was rude, tacky tip jars displayed on the bar & in the ladies room. Don't think staff understood English as when asked a question, they looked at you like you had 2 heads. Lot's of empty promises made by the event director prior to the reception. In fact she was nowhere to be seen the entire evening. The wedding party arrived 2 hours prior to the reception for pictures etc. NO ONE from Liberty House greeted us, offered a refreshment etc. It was terrible !!

At the price charged, could have had the reception in Manhattan. Don't waste your time or money with this place......

Bad Experience Twice. I have been to this place a few times. Once I was waiting at the bar for my son who attended a school party next door. My wife and I decided to have a couple of drinks and appitizers. We ordered the Mussels. My God! It was the worst. They were SPOILED. When they came out, the smell caught the attention of everyone around us. They really Stunk Badly. My wife wanted to throw up. How could the cook, the server, the management not smell this stench of Bad Seafood?? The Tender, a beautiful young lady also looked the plate of Mussels in horror - she immediately took them away. She apologized and offered us a free drink each - kind of her.

Low and behold, another time we were there and decided to order mussels again. We were surprised that AGAIN, yes AGAIN, it was BAD. I go to this place now, because it a nice ambienace, hang out at the bar but only order drinks. We would not dare order any food. I dont trust that place.

Fantastic Views, Fantastic Food and awesome service.... I am lucky enough to have had several experiences at Liberty House Restaurant. The latest was a wine tasting/dinner on Jan 30, 2009. The menu was wonderful and the service could not have been better. The menu that night was a braising dinner...the short ribs were to die for....melted in your mouth! The wines were really good, in fact, i learned to like pinot noir. There was a live jazz band playing great music. The view was, of course, spectacular. The staff greeted everyone in our party like family and were very cordial. I'd like to mention that I live in the southern NJ area, and I find the food so fantastic, that i'll drive 60 some-odd miles to have an evening there.

over cooked food, slow service. I was at Liberty House about a month ago with a date. The night i went on was very slow, only about 4 other tables there. When we sat down, the busboy immediately came over and poured tap water into our glasses. I asked him to remove them because I wanted bottle water. He looked at me like I had 10 heads and then left the table without removing the glasses. My waiter came over and I wish I remembered his name, and he was obviously preoccupied with something cause he asked us if we wanted bottle or tap water seeing the full glass of water on the table. I ordered drinks and bottle water for myself and my date. It took about 10 min for our drinks to arrive, didn't understand that cause we were the 5th table in the restaurant. I was beginning to understand why. We ordered fried calamari to share, and I had the sirloin special, and my date had the tuna. I asked for mine medium rare, and she wanted her tuna rare. The calamari came, and I could tell before I even tasted it, that the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed for a while. The meal was rubbery, but I do have to say the thai chili sauce was great, but it was probably brought in. We really couldn't eat much of it, so I asked to have it cleared. Insteed of the waiter just taking it away, he looked around for a busboy, then he went somewhere and about 10 min later the busboy came and removed it. Made no sense to me. Our entrees came about 25 min after the calamari was cleared and my steak was well done and her tuna was medium well. We were hungry and just wanted to get out of there. We ate some of our meal and asked for the check. Instead our waiter brought us the dessert menu. I gave him my credit card, paid and left. While walking past the bar on our way out, the manager was sleeping at the bar!!!! I have been to world renouned restaurants and will never go back to Liberty House. There are lot better restaurants in downtown JC, like the Light Horse.

Terrible Customer Service. A friend attended a wedding there this past summer. Being allergic to nuts, she asked staff members which foods might contain tree nuts. The staff members were either too busy to answer or uneducated in the menu. Eventually, she received an answer of "Nothing has nuts" and ate a chicken roll. Immediately after consuming the chicken roll, her throat closed up and her face swelled. The chicken roll did have nuts and my friend had to be rushed to the hospital, without any assistance from Liberty House's staff. She missed the entire wedding, and was in the hospital most of the night. After the fact, she insisted that the restaurant pay her medical bills (as they were obviously at fault). After numerous phone calls and empty promises, the hospital bills were paid... six months later! This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever heard of and I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially for a party/reception/gathering.

great experience all around. I had my wedding reception here in 2004 and I loved it. They helped make my wedding totally memorable. The food was delicious and the service was great. They even offered a second round of the extra food that they had and i know many people took it. 3 years later I still have family members tell me how beautiful my wedding was and how the food was great. Some people even now frequent the place as customers and i never hear of a bad experience. I go back every year for my anniversary and the food is still delicious. The wedding coordinator always comes to say hello and I am told that I was a very tuff bride because I wanted things they way I wanted them, no ifs ands or buts. I would totally suggest this place for a wedding or any event really. The rooms are nicely done, not overdone, the views are fantastic and the food is great. I?m going back this weekend for my third anniversary.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE FOR A WEDDING. Basically for a wedding, this place was horrendous. Do not use this place unless you want to waste your money on horrible stale cheese and food, service which takes your drinks away from the table once you've placed it on the table, waiters that eat your desert while its on the table, non working faucets in the bathroom, and overall very unporfessional service and food. Total waste of money. I would suggest just walking on the pier and bringing a basket of food. You get the ambniance, and edible food.

Pathetic service. We had a reservation for 9 pm on a Friday night, but never got a table! We waited for 45 minutes, after which we left. The management never made an effort to stop us from leaving! They left us in the lurch, forcing us to hunt for another place to eat at 10 pm!! Given they were super busy, but they shouldn't have taken a reservation that was made two days in advance. To make things worse, the manager publicly berated one of his staff for letting some people take an extra table earlier - which was surely a display to cover their inefficiency. We have been to restaurants all around the world - big and small - but never received such treatment. Go there only if you want shoddy service, pathetic excuses and haughty behavior by an overwhelmed staff, who couldn't care less about you.
