Best Bagels. Murray's has the best bagels. Really fresh and great smoked fish too. It's also a nice casual place to sit and have brunch.

RUDE SERVICE!!! Take your money elsewhere!. Murray's bagels has decent bagels, but the staff at the 8th avenue Chelsea location is beyond rude. I had to walk out this morning because the idiot behind the counter screamed at me for ordering a bagel wrong. For the record, IM JEWISH, I know how to order a bagel!!! Do not go to Murray's bagels, the only thing consistent about Murray's is their extremely rude staff.

DOH inspections freak me out. I think the bagels are good, but staff can be rude. Some of the prep guys are really nice, but the girl that (this was months back, so it could be someone else) works the register is rude, and rattles the tip jar when she gives you your change. I find this unbelievable - aside from being tactless, what would we even be tipping for? I used to be a waiter, and tip generously for good service. For take-out food, I don't tip the cashiers or for food prep; I find this odd.

Delivery here has been ok the last couple of times, but it used to be REALLY slow and REALLY incorrect in ways that made no sense.

This place was closed down a while back by the DOH. They were recently inspected again, and there is still evidence of live vermin. That creeps me.

All this being said, I'll swing by once in a blue for a bagel when the mood strikes. it's good enough, but not a strong standby at all.

What happened ?. I was a Murray's Bagels FREAK. At one point Murray's was the only bagels i'll eat. But the bagel in this store changed for the worst. No teast, rolled uneven, just nasty bagels. I miss the old bagels WHAT HAPPENED YOUR KILLING YOUR BUSINESS.

Great bagels, Expensive. They do make excellent bagels. They have a wide assortment of spreads- I usually get a bagel with whitefish salad spread and its awesome. However, its $7-8 for a bagel for breakfast.

Overcooked Bagels. I don't know why I keep going back to this place. It's probably because it's one of the only bagel places in Chelsea. They consistently have tough (I think they're overcooked) bagels. And not cheap! I usually end up paying around $9 for a bagel sandwich, not including juice or coffee. And don't get me started on the surly staff...

Please someone open another bagel place in Chelsea.

The real deal. I had read about Murray's bagels and found a minute on my way home to DC to stop in and buy some plain bagels. They were wonderful. Absolutely no need to toast them, it would be ridiculous, they're perfect as they are.

The best bagels.. Murray's were the first and have been so far the best bagels I've tried in New York. The "should they toast" argument is a no-brainer: The point of toasting is to crisp the outside, leaving the inside soft and chewy. Murray's bagels are perfectly made, already crisp and soft all in one. The cream cheese and lox is highly recommended; it's not exactly cheap, but you get a mountain of delicious cream cheese and high quality lox. Also notable: The North Chelsea location has the advantage of big windows looking out on the unmatched Chelsea-boy parade on Eighth Ave.
