abosolute worst meal ever!. Went to this restaurant with my partner (who is a chef) as we were staying in the hotel next to it. I must say it was the worst meal i have had in a long time. I got the beef carpaccio for starters which was smothered in a horrible overpowering sauce which may have been pesto but i couldn't even be sure and topped with hard crusts of Parmesan. My partner had the clams which were cooked to bullets followed by a pizza which was overcooked and chewy and claimed to have grapes on it but turned up with strawberries although you couldn't really taste anything on it because it was drowned in a horrible tomato sauce. To top of this horrible meal we were served warm and I'm quite sure water down cheap pinot grigio.

I must admit the biggest insult came at the end when after HORRIBLE food and mediocre service we got our bill and had been charged 25% service charge. I have never not left a tip but after that i certainly would not of left a tip so large and was angry that they felt entitled to take that much without consulting us after what may possibly have been the worst meal we have ever experience. I have never written a review before but felt i had to write this so no one would ever be disappointed with a night like we just had.

Nice Place But..... four of us went there after theater as we were staying nearby. three of us had a couple of drinks each and ordered several appetizers. One of our group was from the USS New York, being commissioned that weekend. He drank soft drinks as he had to be on the ship early the next day. After reviewing the bill the next morning, I was amazed to see this place had charged us $2.50 for each of the three soft drink refills he had, while the rest of us drank and ate for at least 1.5 hours.

This is a hidden gem.. This is a hidden gem. We have now dined at Zana Cafe well over a dozen times. The ambiance is very romantic. The drinks are varied and delicious and about what you'd expect to pay in Manhattan. The wine list, though brief, pairs very well with the Continental/Mediterranean menu.

Most importantly, the food and service is consistently excellent. The specials are always enticing and worth considering. The prices for meals of this quality are surprisingly reasonable. We have never been disappointed. This has quickly become our favorite midtown restaurant. Buon appetito!

Shockingly Abusive Bartender. On my third visit to Zana, I witnessed the most horrible behavior from a bartender I'd seen in 30 years in NYC. First she started ranting at a guy who was trying to order more drinks--he was nice, she was abusive. Something about separate checks. The poor guy kept trying to calm her down and pay his bill. Then a trio of elderly Danish tourists came in and ordered a bottle of wine. She screamed at them: You can't take that to your hotel room! (They didn't want to.) She then set out 4 glasses (for 3 people) and poured out the bottle. Their English wasn't so great, so I tried to help them. Result: When I asked--again-- for a water back for my drink, she told me, "You'll get your water, but I won't serve you anymore!"

Great little gem. I used to live in the neighborhood and I found Zana by accident. The food is fantastic and the service is top notch. They never make you feel rushed at all. I love the seafood salad and they have a decent wine selction.

In the summer you can sit outside and enjoy a cocktail.

Affordable & Amazing Food and atmosphere. I recently had dinner with a bunch of my girlfriends there and I must say the food is absolutely amazing from appetizers to dessert. The service was great, and i found them to be quite attentive on the contrary to what the other reviewer said. The prices are also affordable and the place itself is beautiful- high ceilings that are painted, the whole place is very classy, it looked like all hand done painting and there is also a real cool bar area separate from the dinner tables and a small lounge like area. Chef antonio, is a well known chef who works the kitchen there- he is marvelous! I highly recommend it, for dinner, for drinks,..or even to sit outside and enjoy their desserts!

Editorial Review. Casual, elegant Mediterranean restaurant in Hotel Thirty-Thirty serves Italian staples in the outdoor patio, bar or lounge.

Chill Outdoor Place. Went there with a friend for a quick/quiet dinner two weeks ago. There's only about 7 or 8 outside tables, but if its a good day out, definitely grab one. Had a penne ala vodka and a pizza apetizer that was pretty darn good. Food came super quick and it wasn't too expensive. I don't know what someone was doing here for New Years Eve (there are a million other places), but if you're in the mood for a good bite in the neighborhood, check it out.
