THE WORST!!!!!!! ATTENTION ALL WOMEN....I implore you that if you have been lead to this salon run in the opposite direction. I went here after much thought and consideration based on reviews and a recommendation and it turned out to be a nightmare. My extensions were removed, my hair cut down to a 1/8 an inch from 7 to 8 inches and my brown locks turned orange like a carrot. I never thought I would leave such a high end salon with carrot orange hair, an uneven cut and burns from peroxide all over my head!!! I am now taking oral and topical medication, have no hair, wearing a wig and out $598.00. I promise to post VIDEO on YouTube for you to see.
I no longer fear the hair salon. It took me forever to find good stylists. After many disappointments (I was told that I had more layers than Joan Jett and more colors than Cyndi Lauper), a friend recommended that I see Alyson and Scott at Edris. They were amazing. Alyson gives you her honest opinion and sometimes knows what you want before you even figure it out. I went in wanting an auburn color and Alyson recommended that I stick with more neutral colors and warm tones, as they suit my complexion better than anything else. Once we had done my hair a chestnut color, I realized that she was completely right. It’s so classic and natural. I also like that she alters my formula by season, adding more highlights and lowlights in the summer and going slightly darker in the winter. Alyson is very professional and makes each appointment very personal. Scott gives great tips and customizes each haircut to fit the individual. He’s honest with his opinions and gave me some great advice after I got a botched haircut at another salon. I would highly recommend Alyson and Scott to anyone looking for a great color and cut.
The perfect combination.
It took me a long time to find two people to whom I could trust my hair. Alyson and Scott have been doing my color and cut respectively for the past couple of years. Now that they've perfected my style, I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair.
Alyson is a color genuis. Before I met her, I didn't realize that my color could look so natural and beautiful. My hair is a warm red and I always have to insist to people that I color it--everyone thinks I'm a natural redhead. There's no reason to keep Alyson a secret, though. I want everyone to meet her and have the same great color experience that I do. Whether you want to be red, blonde, brunette, or anything in between, Alyson can give you beautiful color.
Scott always know exactly what to do with my cut. Whether I need a trim or a drastic change, I know that I'm going to leave the salon feeling great about my hair. My hair is short and curly, but he's an expert with all styles, textures, and lengths. He does an excellent blow out as well.
The salon itself is tranquil and upbeat all at the same time. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. From booking to shampoo to color, cut, and style, I always know that I'll have a fantastic experience at Edris Salon.
edris salon rocks!. Alyson Pemoulie and Scott Pere are two outstanding additions to the Edris Salon staff. Their knowledge and execution of color and cut respectively, make the Edris experience one you will not soon forget. I have found my hair care package for life in these two.
Great experience. I had an appointment with color assistant, Ron, and love the work he did with the color as well as the blowout. It was a very comfortable environment and I would definitely go back.
Best Downtown Salon with a Great Vibe. Best experience ever! I've been going there for over a year and get compliments after every visit. I always trust Josh when it comes to color and he is always right on the money. Eric gives great cuts with style. The assistants are superb with their customer service. All of the assistants are great. Everyone at Edris is very attentative to all of your needs. There is no attitude and everyone is extremely friendly. I felt like a princess for being able to get a manicure while getting a blowdry. Nothing beats getting a manicure, blowdry and having lunch all at the same time.
Just Wonderful !.
Edris Salon is your best bet for the mult-tasking services they offer. I have never had a more wonderful experience.Ann, the Manager, operates a tight ship and smooth as all hell. Edris is fantastic with your hair and Sandra is exellent with the careful way she handles your hands and feet. The best mani/pedi in NYC.
I highly recommend this salon and will continue to return.
It's ABSOLUTELY worth it!!!. Worth going the extra mile for! The notion of leaving the Upper West Side to go down to 14th street for a hair appointment did not initially appeal. However, after making the trip the experience at Edris was well worth it. It’s even worth moving downtown for Because the product is the best in Manhattan to say nothing of the elegance of the place and the area. In truth I am fed up with having to walk through department stores and hotels to get the haircut . At the Edris salon you can enjoy not only the cut, and color but the whole experience. Well worth the journey and I know I will be returning again soon. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOOK fabulous!
Overpriced, overhyped, and ready to take advantage of you..
I'm not someone who goes into a hair salon and expects my bill to be anything close to cheap. I've been to most of the best places in New York City (and Edris is NOT one of them), and I was sorely disappointed by Edris, her employees, and the salon in general. I set up an appointment with them because I needed hair extensions on short notice; I asked for Great Lengths and they said they could accompany that request and to come in. After being plopped on a couch for 1/2 an hour, Edris came over to tell me that the salon only does weaves as hair extensions but my appointment had already been booked and would be non-refundable. She was also unable to show me any pictures of her work. Then I was sent out in a cab to go track down the hair for myself (not very classy of a highend salon). That ruined my impression right off the bat of Edris, but I had hope for the others.
I was wrong again. The colorist managed to turn my hair a lovely shade of a pink-tinged blonde with BRIGHT BABY BLUE highlights. At this point, I had been there for 9 hours and was too tired to argue as the colorist began the whole process over again (not very healthy for the hair). Some streaks still have a blueish hue. The guy who trimmed my hair made it a good two inches shorter on one side than the other... I let it slide since I was getting extensions the next day. Needless to say, I didn't get a single apology. Just a bill for $1600 and 10 hours wasted.
The next day, Edris put in the "hair extensions", or more appropriately, weave. The entire process took her 90 minutes.. she put three tiny braids in my hair and attached the pieces. Those 90 minutes cost me another $3300 (and given the fact they are falling out after two weeks and the hair is shedding in fistfuls, I wasn't paying for quality).
Aside from that, Edris in particular is VERY rude to her assistants. Bring along an iPod if you don't want to listen to her yelling at her staff the entire time.
AVOID THIS PLACE
Waste of time and money. Completely agree with the first review. I've been to the male colorist at the Edris Salon a few times. The salon does NOT have a welcoming comfortable environment. There is always a problem. For example, I call to make an appointment, and Im told to call them back tomorrow because they are currently busy! On another occasion, the colorist's assistant was rude and patronizing. The last time I went to this salon, my color was blotchy and rushed because they were running late. Waste of time and money... go somewhere professional with a normal atmosphere.
