What You'll See
Clearly falling between the anachronistic taxidermic splendors of the older halls and the new millennium technological wonder that is the Rose Center, Gottesman Hall is neither as visually compelling as the former nor as interactive as the latter. The multimedia component here is fairly rudimentary. That said, an overhead hemisphere, on which an outer-space view of our planet is projected, is no less charming for being quaint.
What You'll Learn
The life cycles of rocks, carbon and water are illustrated in simple terms as are the causes of earthquakes, volcanos and the weather. Giant chunks of ore invite your (permitted) touch; in such close proximity to over 150 specimens collected from regions like Mount Vesuvius, the Grand Canyon and the Swiss Alps, you'd be foolish not to get your hands on a few of them.

Insider Tips
The pit below the luminous hemisphere has plenty of room for large groups to get off their feet. In the soothing blue light, you may find peace before you head to the next exhibit.
While the wall text is succinct, all the reading can make for a dry experience. Audio recorded tours are available for those needing the sonic jolt.
This is a museum of natural history, so be sure to check out the red-banded iron formation that is 2.7 billion years old. You can't get much more historical than that.
