Sandwiches go gourmet at this quick-service chain known for its wood-fire hearths and signature flat bread. – In Short
Styled to evoke the feel of a Parisian café, the focal point of each restaurant is an open-flame stone oven, which swiftly turns out thin-crust pizzas, made-to-order panini and open-faced melts on Roman-style flat bread. Fresh ingredients--including mozzarella, tomatoes, buffalo chicken and secret-recipe dressings--are used in both the sandwiches and the long list of specialty salads. Sweet treats like S'mmm.Oreos (chocolate bar, graham crackers and marshmallows with an extra-large Oreo cookie) are equally popular.
Good Food, Slow Service, Avoid for Weekday Breakfast Unless You Want to Be Late to Work – God bless the counter guy in the mornings! He's so incredibly cheery that it's disgusting b/4 my morning coffee's had time to kick in. I feel like such a creep b/c I hate everyone in the morning, but this guy makes me wonder if being grouchy in the morning prevents me from being totally cheesy. This spacious restaurant is almost quiet enough in the mornings that you'd hear crickets chirping if NYC had 'em. I couldn't figure out why they don't have a booming breakfast business like surrrounding businesses since they're so close to the subway. Their bagels aren't awesome, but they're pretty decent & the coffee drink menu seems decent. After a few visits to this place, I realized why their breakfast crowd is non-existent. This restaurant is painfully slow. Everytime I've been in there to get breakfast, I've had ample time to get breakfast & make it to work on time. But alas, each & every time, they're slow as molasses & make me late to work every time I give them my business. This morning, despite the lack of customers, they gave me the wrong cream cheese on my bagel, so I had to wait even longer for my meal. Tell me how it can take SOOOOO long when there's 3 employees to their 5 customers total that came in during the time I was there. They must lose $ being open during this time b/c they're so inefficient.
Greatest Chain Sandwich – I like Cosi in general. I love this particular Cosi. Decor wise, it is much larger than most other sandwich shops with comfy couches and a large seating area. Service wise, everyone who works here has always been pleasant. However, the bread (that they use to make the sandwiches) at this particular Cosi is unbelievable. The freshly baked bread is so great I find myself contemplating getting everytime I hit Chelsea. Definately worth a try. My favorite is the Tuscan Pesto Chicken.
