  1. Given the (lack of) ambience, it's not a good first date place, but it's wonderful for everyday if you love sushi and aren't a multi-gazillionaire.

  1. Excellent customer service - open late - good prices - nice food.
  2. good sushi.
  3. It's NOT the best sushi in NYC, but it's an incredible deal given the very decent quality of the fish.
  4. Good late night sushi
  5. Given the (lack of) ambience, it's not a good first date place, but it's wonderful for everyday if you love sushi and aren't a multi-gazillionaire.
  6. (Early last year, the fish was phenomenal AND an incredible bargain--$1/piece during happy hour!
  7. They took away the happy hour and now the fish is less flavorful, too.)
  8. For how late the place stays open, the sushi is still quite fresh (it stays open until 4AM).
  9. The food is NOT for japanese food lovers, and neither is it for people who enjoy quality of service.
  10. delectable miso soup.
  11. If you enjoy sushi, this is NOT the place to go.
  12. The soup tasted old, the salad dressing watery and oily, and the "teriyaki" dishes do not have an authentic teriyaki taste.
  13. If you don't like your food, too bad - you are expected to pay full price for food you cannot eat.

Oh, the plum wine.... You must go for the plum wine!

by misskaren

I don't know if every japanese place has such great plum wine... in fact, I've never even had it anywhere else... but the cold fruity, plummy, maraschino cherryish flavor of this delectable two-for-one-during-happy-hour cocktail just can't be beat. i look forward to it all day when I know I'm going....

i've been to yummy sushi a bunch of times and always look forward to going back. it's understated.... some might even say a hole-in-the-wall... but i love it. no fuss no muss. good sushi. great wine. amazing hot and salty edamame. delectable miso soup. supa saki. I usually get the Sushi Deluxe w/9 pieces of assorted sushi and a tuna roll. it's a great deal and it sure makes my tummy smile :)

only one drawback... the servers can rush you a little if you're not careful....and some don't speak great english. but if you ask nicely, they'll leave you be as long as you like.

I like it. You will too.

  • Pros: low key; slightly off the beaten path yummy sushi; PLUM WINE ;)
  • Cons: service can go either way...

Good late night sushi

by bajomono

For how late the place stays open, the sushi is still quite fresh (it stays open until 4AM). The service is a bit slow sometimes because there is only one waitress/waiter working at a time, but it's not too bad. We tried going there earlier during the day once and was surprised at how much better the sushi quality was.

  • Pros: cheap/good late night sushi
  • Cons: service not too great

Good Deal

by clairus99

Excellent customer service - open late - good prices - nice food.

The only things that let it down was the state of the place - tables needed clearing, the table I sat at had broken glass under the seat and unfortunately I had put my handbag on the floor under the table - and had to wash it afterwards as it was drenched in the soy sauce puddle that I hadn't seen there...

There was also a regular customer (they seemed to know her anyway) who spent the best part of 20 minutes talking really loudly on a mobile phone, using language at which even a lifelong sailor would raise an eyebrow.... I wish they'd had a word with her, as this was even worse than the mess and the stinking handbag and spoiled what would have otherwise been a really nice experience.

  • Pros: Friendly, sincere service and good prices
  • Cons: Messy and too tolerant of annoying customers

asian food not for an asian market...

by ninja_net80

If you enjoy sushi, this is NOT the place to go. The price and quality of the fish is average, and I would not even consider a non-sushi/non-sashimi dish. Everything seems to be laden with broccoli and tomatoes, changing the dishes' taste from what you would expect and what it should be. The soup tasted old, the salad dressing watery and oily, and the "teriyaki" dishes do not have an authentic teriyaki taste. To top it off, the service was terrible. The waitress forgot a soup, 3 salads and a bowl of rice and ignored the table for 10-15 minutes at a time. If you don't like your food, too bad - you are expected to pay full price for food you cannot eat. The food is NOT for japanese food lovers, and neither is it for people who enjoy quality of service.

  • Cons: , inauthentic dishes
