In Short
The speakeasy charm of this art-deco hideaway appeals to those seeking a high-class getaway apart from the hustle of nearby Union Square. The shiny red booths and velvet bar stools work in tandem with the jazz music to create a swing-era atmosphere where suits and well-dressed women can congregate over specialty cocktails. Each beverage, like the Juniper Breeze, carefully infused with elderflower cordial, is mixed with the finest ingredients and the greatest of care. This is the place to go when you want to imbibe in style with high-quality quaffs.

Hits:
The classics--like the martini and the sidecar--are as trustworthy as the specialties.

Misses: With quality, comes cost. Most drinks go for $13, but many of the high-end whiskeys climb higher.

Seriously. If you're a gin fan, ask for a Twentieth Century, it's a fabulous drink. I'm a loyal bourbon drinker and have tasted many an old-fashioned in NYC; this is the best. Avoid on weekends, it's far too crowded, but as an after-work destination, it's ace.

We went to Flatiron Lounge without knowing much about the place and we were amazed about the service and the drinks - PERFECT! From the girl and the bouncer at the door to the waitress, the drinks and the rest rooms - everything was excellent. A re-visit next time we come to NYC is a must!!!

I have been a loyal customer of Flatiron since it opened- I've entertained clients there and even hosted a large party there. On a recent visit I was in with a group of 5 coworkers after work. We stayed until 10.30- with a bar tab of over $250. When I went to pay the bill I noticed that they charged $4 for a glass of club soda. I asked the waitress about it who agreed that it was a ridiculous charge, and sent the manager over. The manager immediately became defensive, stating that it was normal for New York, that I was wrong and that she refused to take it off. I found myself arguing over the stupid charge, and eventually (more to end the discussion), gave up and asked her to run my card. She refused and told me that it was my waitress?s job. It is an unfortunate trend in New York to treat good, paying customers awfully. I thought this bar was immune, based on previous pleasant experiences there. I am more then happy to pay $15 for a martini, as long as it comes with a little service and not a $4 glass of carbonated tap water with a lot of attitude! I will NOT be back.
