In Short – This New York-area fitness chain lures customers with rock-bottom prices for six-month and one-year contracts, or non-committal monthly memberships that run almost as cheap. The gyms, bare-bones and compact, are packed with treadmills, exercise bikes, weight-training equipment and televisions providing entertainment--and, with the low prices, you can expect a wait when it's busy. Change up your workout at certain locations where personal training services and a schedule of classes are offered.

Neg reviews are old... new awesome management!
by JMGB
So I read a lot of negative reviews, and they're all so old! They've had a new manager for about a year and the place has really turned around. New equipment, cleaner, and just better. True it is small but you can't beat the price and it is so much better than it was!
- Pros: Cheap, friendly, new equipment
Worst Trainers
by taco_lover
I've been a member for 5 years and it's perfect for the 25 bucks a month it costs. Yes the equipment is crappy. Yes it's dirty. But for 25 $ it's a steal.
Do NOT use their trainers though. Besides being jerks, their clueless and improper training methods will get you hurt. Sometimes these guys are so bad it's laughable- tossing around weights close to where people are working out, not knowing the difference between quadriceps and hamstrings, hitting on the women they're training... unprofessional. The good news is that there's been a high turnover lately- many have been moved or fired I guess. The bad news is that it's not happening fast enough.
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: Trainers are rude inconsiderate immature sexist jerks
Best Deal In New York!
by sarahj385
I don't know what these people are talking about. The guy I signed up with was perfectly friendly. I got 6 months for $149! They have similiar deals running now. I must say that this is a great deal.
It's in a basement and it's a little worn down. Every machine I have been on works, though, and they are good quality machines that are maybe a few years old. I must say this is a WAY better deal than Ludlow Fitness - the other L.E.S. gym near me. At Ludlow I had to wait up to 20 minutes just to get on a machine. It was a really nice gym, just too tiny and way too crowded. It gets crowded at Dolphin, but I can always get a machine. With the amazing 6 month deal, I can't complain!
- Pros: Price, size, availability of machines.
- Cons: A little worn down on the machines. It's a budget gym!
Worst Gym Ever!
by December1977
There is so many reasons not to join this gym! I agree with all the other review that it is a dirty, slimy place, with bad business policies. You are attracted to the gym because it is so much cheaper than other gyms in the area but the truth is that they lock you into a contract for training and then your stuck paying for services you never wanted or never recieved. The trainers seem like they were recruited straight from a prison yard. STAY AWAY!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: just about everything
