"had a wonderful dinner thursday nite (no reservations). boyfriend and i split the beef carpaccio, i had the ravioli filled with osso buco and he had the short ribs. unbelievable, is all i can say. i'm not a rib person and shy away from having ravioli out, having grown up on them in a traditional italian household. the ingredients were incredibly fresh and i was sure to tell the owner we were thoroughly impressed. he had us join him in the bar area for a glass of prosecco. i asked the sommelier for advice on wine (be sure to give them a price point) and it was great. thursday nite provides opera singing. there were 3 performers who had varying styles and were beyond enjoyable. and about the water, who cares! if you don't like their style, don't go. their food is exceptional and the service sincere."

We were four people who frequent good restaurants quite often. We started off with a red and a white wine,,both of which were spectacular. The artichoke puree sitting a bed red pepper/pancetta was so amazingly light and delicous. I did not want it to be gone. We ordered the fettucinni alfredo as our second course, split between the four of us..we just had to taste it. Well, our entrees came out first and when they corrected the mistake and they wheeled out the cheese wheel and prepared our fettuccini tableside, we were in heaven. It was clear to me that this was indeed their house special. It was to die for! OK, then our entrees came out, and although I was preparing myself for a warmed over plate, we all got fresh entrees, cooked to perfection. The short ribs were the most tender I have ever eaten. Again, heaven. I also have to say that the other people in my party were raving about their dishes. They had the special risotto, special baby lamp chops and the swordfish. There wasn't a morsel of food left on our dishes. The desserts were equally sublime. We had the carmelized banana and the chocolate desserts. Besides the glitch with the early arriving entrees that they corrected, the service was outstanding. Vinny, our waiter knows this place inside and out...was right on top of everything and gave us really great service (despite the mix up). The owner presented our table with a glass of champagne each just because he liked us. After dinner we went to the bar for after dinner drinks. The Moscato was the best I've ever had! The place can be a bit noisy (there is live music on weekends), but it is so pretty inside (you'd never know it was a store during the day.) I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves and appreciates good food. It is definitely served here.

I read some reviews about the bad service, but I just figured they were high maintenance people writing the reviews, I mean could it really be that bad?yes, yes it could. I called to make reservations for a Saturday evening, they don?t take them for parties of 2, so we get there before the dinner rush around 7:15 (with at least 10 tables open) and they give us a horrible table because we don?t have reservations. When I asked for another table, they said all of the others we reserved. They offer to seat us in the bar section, but as soon as we are seated there; the bartender decides to ?eat? his dinner which was actually sucking on his spaghetti like a 3 year old. Needless to say we left and didn?t even bother spending money here. The funny thing is they didn?t understand why we wanted to leave after they treated us terribly. The place is a joke, and it makes me embarrassed to be from Queens.
