“The interior/ambience was perfect and much better than the other places in the neighborhood.”
“The bread was stale, shrimp raviolli was nasty, the crab cakes were very good but tiny (if this is just a sample because its Restuarant week, then you lost a customer because I feel it is always like that, not worth the second try).”
“We had to ask if we could sit in the bar to have a few drinks and the hostess was very unpleasant.”
“Awesome food”
“Restaurant Week menu was in effect; the spinach salad and its dressing was excellent as was the bread in the bread basket.”
“We had a great experience at this restaurant and will definately be back!”
“We had a great experience at this restaurant and will definately be back!”
“The food was mediocre for the price and the manager is a cold fish ( French or Israeli--I could not palce is accent).”
“The food is just ok and the cost is too expensive for the price.”
“They seated us & though there may have been less than 5 tables occupied, the service was very slow, In the beginning our waitress was pleasant & we both ordered the Lobster Roll & my spouse had a cocktail (12.95) which he said wasn't too bad.”
I and a business associate went here on
Friday March 1st, 2013 for lunch after a meeting we had in the diamond district with a client. It was a place he had seen and wanted to try since we both agreed we wanted a more healthy bite to eat rather than the typical steakhouse lunches we are accustomed to doing. Let me start by saying the aesthetics of the restaurant is nice to look at and comfortable to sit in. The host seems professional but very business like - no "Mr. Congeniality"; but I can accept that as it is not necessarily a popularity contest pursuant to ordering food in a restaurant. Hey, he could have been having a bad day or something traumatic happened in his life before he came into work or while there.
We ordered off the lunch Prix-fixe menu. I ordered Appetizer: Chilled Sewansecott "Virginia Salt" Oysters On The 1/2 Shell (4), Entree:Maryland "Eastern Shore" Crab cak(e) with Late Harvest Corn & Sun-Dried Cherry Relish and Dessert: Our Real Florida Key Lime Pie, Drink: Iced Water. My associate ordered Appetizer: Baked Mid-Atlantic Oysters And Crab meat Rockefeller (2), Entree: "City's" Down East Lobster Roll with Homemade Fries & Cole Slaw and Dessert: Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, Drink: Pelligrino . The wait was a MINIMUM of 30 minutes for the food to FINALLY come out of the kitchen. When the food finally did come out we were both amazed to see ONE SINGLE crab cake on the plate. In my entire life of ordering Maryland Crab CAKES, I have yet to ever see ONE SINGLE Cab cake come out on a plate and be defined as an ENTREE and NOT an appetizer - nor specified on the menu as they have for the clams and oysters are on the menu for their appetizers. My associate looked at me and said "Are you sure that is enough, and you do not want to order something else additional"? Based on the time it took to bring out our initial order, I was fearful we would be there all afternoon and never return to the office in a sufficient amount of time. Keep in mind I am an active 6 ft. 2 inch male diner weighing 210 lbs! After taking 2 bites of the Crab CAKE, we decided he was right and asked the busboy to call over our waiter so we could place another order without waiting another 30 minutes. After our busboy could not find our waiter, he called over the pleasurable host, and I told him to place another order for the Maryland "Eastern Shore" Crab CAK(E) with Late Harvest Corn & Sun-Dried Cherry Relish. Surprisingly, this time it seemed to take approximately 5 - 10 minutes for this second order to come out of the kitchen. We also noticed that the staff for a "lunch time" crowd seemed insufficient for the amount of diners that were in the restaurant at the time. One of my little test i use to determine god or great waitstaff and service in a restaurant is how attentive the waiter is to refilling your glass with ICED water when they see, know and realize that THAT was your drink of choice for your meal. I LOVE and CRAVE ICED COLD NEW YORK CITY tap water (BEST tap water in THE WORLD!); and had to signal for the waiter EVERY TIME that I wanted my glass refilled - AMAZING! The dessert of the key Lime pie was the HEAVIEST use of lime (our SOURNESS) that I have ever tasted in the eating of Key Lime Pie! It was really inedible.
Bottom line, this was a business lunch between two associates, IF this were a personal lunch with my wife or wife and son, we would have really NOT been too pleased and would have most likely walked out based on the mere waiting time for the food to initially come out and the arrival of one SINGLE Crab CAKE. I highly doubt I would ever enter the threshold of this place ever again.

Yummy Steaks!. City Lobster & Steak serve some really EXCELLENT steaks. You could probably predict that based on its name, but their steaks really are much better than some other more famous steak houses. Also, if you go, try to get Sandra to be your server. She's excellent, funny, knows everything about the menu, and cute as well. Enjoy!
Great Service. The food was great and our server Rudy was amazing . Will be back soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A fantastic pre-show dinner !.
My one and only time here , they seemed to have addressed all of the gripes I just read about ie: hot wet towel to wipe my hands after eating, fast food delivery (1,2,3) ,many eyes on me to see if I was needing anything but not stopping unless they got a nod ( I like attention but not having to swallow good food too fast to say all is well) I did however catch a mistake on my bill that was immediately rectified. This is my post to City Lobster and Steak web site! "I had the greatest lobster dinner there last night! Thomas and Emiliano attended my every need. The oyster appetizer was very flavorful. The huge 2.5 lb lobster was just so sweet I went through 3 hot butters! And then the cheesecake desert was light and creamy! all washed down by some ice cold Stella Beer. Thank you so much for a most excellent meal before enjoying Janet Jackson down the street at Radio City. Great work ,keep it up and I will make it a point to bring friends next time! "
PS all with no reservation !
City Lobster & Steak.
Running the restaurant comes with more then having a food.
People that think they invented the world.
I love sea food but will never go to them.
Delicious Fresh Seafood!!. Seafood was so fresh and amazing. Was with a pretty large group and we all had steamed lobster. Also, Had crabcakes to start (im a sucker for good crabcakes). Agree with review below..food was outstanding and the service was very on point. I wouldn't say its fast which is good cause I hate to feel rushed when I'm dining out. Can't wait till I go back..
I JUST FOUND MY NEW SPOT!. i came here one weekend to eat and this is my favorite spot now!. Food was awesome and the service was fast and friendly. 100% is what i give them overall!
Fresh Lobster!!. Ate there last Friday and I've already been back for lunch today. Not really sure I agree with most of the reviews below. The food was fresh and outstanding. Nice ambiance and the staff was on top of everything.
Fast service, not crowded on a Saturday for lunch.
The RW menu was pretty good for lunch.
We started with the clam chowder, BLT wedge and oysters Rockefeller. Our entrees were lobster roll, angus NY strip and crab cake. The latter was so small it should be an appetizer, not an entree. We had to wait for a long time for our dessert to arrive. The chef is preparing we were told. When we got it, we didn't see why it took so long. We had the red, blue, white shortcake, key lime pie and profiteroles arabica.
The place was not busy at all for lunch on a Saturday.
Don't ever use for take out.
I ordered a bowl of soup and an order of fried calamari for dinner on an average Tuesday night. After being advised it would take no longer than 45 minutes (they are 3 blocks away), it took 1.5 hours.
Not to mention, the fried calamari was colder than the cup of Sprite that came with it. I wouldn't feed it to my dog.
I'd highly recommend avoiding.
