Wonderful Service and Tasty Dinner. The steak and mussels are delicious. I would recommend eating in the upstairs dining room which is tastefully decorated and suitable for a intimate meal or getting together with family and friends. The wait staff are professional and knowledgeable in what they serve so it's worth asking them questions.
Disappointing.
Deemed Hoboken's "Fine dining" experience, I was excited to visit The Brass Rail. However, poor value and poor service will keep me from ever visiting again.
First, the host and wait staff were short and rude with us. Perhaps because we didn't look like some of the other diners(loaded with money!) Second, the food was decent, but not memorable. I would recommend the mojitos, however, down on Sinatra, there's a place that has mojitos that are twice as good.
If you want fine dining, I'd definitely recommend Amanda's over Brass Rail. Otherwise, there are plenty of places on Washington that offer better value. Avoid Brass Rail if at all possible.
Great for a Dinner Party. I recently had a dinner party here for 22 guest and they had an AWESOME price fixe menu. It's definitely the best deal around. Our table was fixed nice, service was good and all my guests were very pleased especially the birthday girl. But just note that the bathrooms could use some fixing and the steps leading upstairs are winding, steep and narrow.
The (Tarnished) Brass Rail.. I have lived in Hoboken for 10 years and the last time I dined at the Brass Rail will be exactly that, the last time I dine at the Brass Rail. I have eaten there many times before, but since new management has taken over, the restaurant on 2nd and Washington has lost its charm. Management has not only lost there personable character, but the food has also lost its flavor. There are too many restaurants in Hoboken for me to waste any more of my time and money at a place like the Brass Rail.
Worries.
Since I can't direct this to the restaurant directly, I am forced to voice my concerns this way.
I am in the restaurant industry and ususally don't write comments, but I find it difficult not to mention my dinner tonight, 6-12-2008.
My salad was delicious, though not what I ordered, served correctly otherwise. The mussels were served correctly, but the rank smell and dirt in nearly every one I tried was too much.
The Brass Rail is a dining institution in Hoboken and should be staffed, in the kitchen particularly, by people who treat it so. I had a few mussels from my dish but the smell got worse and I couldn't eat anymore. For fear of my safety and health, I gave it up.
I implore you to triple check all that are involved in your ordering, supplying and quality checking. It is not such an extra effort for the health and safety of you patrons.
Thank you for your time.
Food and service is poor quality.
My girlfriend and I ate dinner on the weekend sitting outside. We ordered the mussels which did not have any flavor. They were basically just steamed and many of them looked raw. For the main course I ordered a the pasta with crab which also did not have any flavor. My girlfriend ordered the halibut which was OK, but the fish was very small and we were still hungry at the end of the meai.
The biggest issue was the poor service. It seemed everyone was waiting to get service. There are many restaurants on Washington so I would avoid this one and try a better one.
Awsome place!!!. I have been to almost every place in Hoboken but the Brass Rail is the best. The really pay attention to detail from service, food to atmosphere. Everyone was really friendly. My boyfreind and I had the best time. Its a great place too to watch a game at the bar because its not too loud. Its perfect! I was told to check out the Gass Light because its the same chef and owner now.
Love the Brass Rail.....
I have visited many restaurants in Hoboken. But nothing compares to this place.
The first time I walked through, I knew I was in love (you know who you are)...the food, the service, and the ambiance. I will continue to visit frequently, Believe me...
Outstanding!. I brought my fiancé to The Brass Rail to celebrate his birthday - it was our third visit here, and every single detail of the evening was perfect. From the friendly hostess to the lovely server who checked in on us after every course was served, everything was great. Every dish we ordered was delicious and presented beautifully. For what you get, the prices are quite reasonable, and it's a nice atmosphere. I love this place!
Great Place.
We took my boyfriends parents for dinner and had the pre-fix. Unbelievable price and the food was outstanding. My boyfriend had a rabbit special and we thought they would charge extra but didn't. (Some items on the pre-fix had a supplemental charge). We ordered a bottle, and even a second, of Lemelsohn Pinot Noir which was great.
If you want great food and good prices tyr this place. ANd its even worth it if you don't get the pre-fix.
