Editorial Review for Ulysses' – by Paul Adams
The Scene
Labyrinthine and dim, the interior of Irish-themed Ulysses is wrought in stone, metal and dark wood. One room contains the extensive bar, and another is given over to imposing tables, some elevated on stages. The interior churns with Irish pub-rock and dance hits, while the harried waitstaff caters to business-casual after-workers. Outside, on cobbled Stone Street, is a popular alfresco dining-and-drinking area.
The Draw
Come to Ulysses' for the wealth of beers on tap, including Boddington's, Chimay, Guinness and, naturally, Stella and Budweiser. The food here doesn't rise far above standard pub fare: Burgers, mashed potatoes and fried things are staples. The fish and chips, for example, are perfectly serviceable; likewise the light, amber onion rings. But a pan-roasted steak is slim and charred to toughness.

Mixed review THE GOOD 1) This is a great summer place outside good social scene and good wait staff 2) The relief/later bartenders are nice. 3) Very good food at a fair price 4) the room to the side of the main bar is interesting THE BAD 5) Too many guys( 80-90%) 6) Inside it takes forerever to get a drink becuase they are understaffed. 7) The bartenders look stressed. So they can often be rude 8) The decor has these little partitions/cubicles that crowd the walking space and you can't see the bar 9) No happy hour 10) I don't like to criticise but I work around the area and have been there 50-60 times over the years mostly outside and in groups and it has improved some but not enough. All IMHO but it appears some folks concur.
Pros: Good food at fair price. Good outside drinking area in summer.
Cons: Crowded with too many guys. Overwhelmed ocassional rude bartenders.

Finding an affordable dinner place in the financial district after 9pm can be tough, so we settled here. A very mixed experience -- their side "green salad" is a handful of mixed greens on a plate. That's it. For $6. The mushroom ravioli with brown butter sauce, however, was far better than any pub pasta should be. Really delicious vegetarian fare and a big portion. I'm forgetting what the rest of our party had because I was so focused on my ravioli. Good beer selection, though my Summer Ale seemed a bit warm. The service was a bit off, and I won't go out of my way to find this place again, but if you're in a bind in that neighborhood it could be worse.
Pros: mushroom ravioli, beer selection
Cons: side "salad"
