Editorial Review for 40/40 – by Eva Chen
The Scene
Everything about Jay-Z's venture is cool--sleek flat-screen televisions, gray Italian marble floor and suspended swinging lounge chairs. Unfortunately, when the club is less populated, the cool feeling can turn into a cold and sterile one. If you've got game, head to the second floor, with an additional bar and some very VIP rooms.
The Draw
Don't expect peanuts or cheap beer, but do expect to chow down on tasty wings. Named after baseball players who've hit 40 home runs and stolen 40 bases in one season, 40/40 draws attractive professionals with a love of sports and Jay-Z. Drinks are well mixed and varied; the Alize sunrise and Peaches and Berries cocktails are particularly smooth. Expect to hear a heavy rotation of Jay-Z and Beyonce in the hip-hop mix as you chill in the cigar or pool lounge.

Where to SitGrab a seat at one of the three tables on the stair landing--they have a perfect view of the 10-foot widescreen TV.
The ExtrasFor the ultimate sports-viewing experience, book the upstairs Remy Lounge room with private sound system, king-sized banquette, pool table and an $8,000 bottle of Louis XIII cognac.
When to GoWhile it's open daily 5pm-4am, the club may be open at other times, depending on the game.

The last thing I ever expected from the 40/40 club was poor service and that is exactly what I received. I was accused of f**king in the rest room by security because I was helping my friend fix her clothing. Security aimed there flashlight through the bathroom stall while my friend was fixing her clothes. Never did the bathroom attendant say two people could not be in the stall at the same time (which by the way was as filthy as a greyhound hound restroom on a bad day); I was charged $250 for a bottle of grey goose that was 60% water. (Then they had the nerve to try to add an extra $100 to the bill) and the security was very nasty and rude. I was devastating the way my friends and I were treated. They are a very discriminatory clubs that caters to people to whom they are familiar with. We were scrutinized about dress code and once inside half the club was out of dress code and cheifing like it was legalized. I was search like I was a new inmate on the Rikers Island my purse was search item by item; while other patrons walked in and was pat down and entered the club. The only good thing I can say about the 40/40 club was the music but everything thing else was the pits. The service there was worse than to a corner bar that sells $5 drinks out of a plastic cup. Security had no boundaries. To top it off they kept my friends Credit card and coat because she refused to sign a bill for to charges 2x the amount of what was purchased. It’s shady business up in there.
Pros: music
Cons: service, security

if you like to share you space with the gh*tto element of ladies who are coming to the club because they think that they are going to meet jay-z, or if you like nasty, hot breath men touching you, or if you like to have to wait an hour for the "VIP" section that you paid for in advance, or last but not least.. if you like to walk through an impossible crowd to get a disgustingly funky unisex bathroom... this is the place for you!!! message to jay-z.. why would you have an establishment open where YOU wouldn't even party?!
Cons: watered down expensive drinks that give hangovers, undesirable element of people, nasty bathrooms, unprofessional service
