I'm still fighting for my $$ with them...
i rented their bbq cabana and later they cashed my $100 deposit without notifying which was so shady ...I called them and found out that two chairs were broken... which I never did. I wanted my deposit back, but the manager kept on telling me that the process has been made and the check was cashed already. Nobody wanted to take responsibility of this issue and they just took the money.
They charged me for something I didn't do.
The workers on the phone were very rude, irresponsible, and unhelpful ....
SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR MONEY. I moved out of 2 Gold less than 2 years ago, and to this day I am still fighting with Rockrose to get my $500 rent refund check back. It's unbelievable the run around I get from them. They said they sent it out in the mail, then say it got lost in the mail, then it take another 4 weeks to process another reissue of the same check, then I have to check to see the status of the check, then we start all over again. Dealing with these people is the most infuriating, frustrating thing I have ever had to deal with from a management company. Complete scum.
worst management ever. I moved into 200 water, a beautiful spacious and newly developed building. the managment company is the worst i've ever experienced. they lost a check of mine and made me track it down through my bank, when it turns out they did cash it in the first place but didn't credit my account. they didn't clean our apt before we moved in, we didnt have hot water, any water pressure, or window blinds. it took them a long time to fix all of those things. we're still waiting for them to finish the gym they said would be done already
Lousy Managment. I moved out of my apt by the end of feb this year, and to this day, I still have not received my security deposit! I have been calling them forever to get the money back, but all I have been receiving so far are useless comments. The woman in the office responsible for handing back deposits(Brenda) kept telling me that, "for some weird reason, no one moved out in feb has received their deposit back yet". As if that's supposed make me feel better in any way!
some good some bad. The people in the office are rude. I never complain like this but it takes forever for them to do anything and they just dont care. Then they tell you its your fault. Customer service is some of the worst I have experienced.
Worst landlord in NYC...take it from an insider. WOW!! The reviews (complaints) here are spot on!! It's amazing that this company has been able to survive for this long without falling flat on its face much sooner. The people that work for the company are impolite to say the very least and one thing is guaranteed....if you are a tenant, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS! The rents are too high by comparison to the space and amenities you get in other buildings in the city. You would expect good service....or at the very least, for Rockrose to stick by their end of the bargain when you pay the exhorbitant rent....but you will be left fighting them for the basic services and courtesy you would expect with a real luxury building. There are way too many tenants who are left unhappy and feeling helpless because the honeymoon with Rockrose ends right after you move in. Shop around the city. In this market, there are plenty of good spaces and amenities for cheaper rents. Don't fall for the free 2 months that they offer in many of their buildings now. I got 2 months free on my lease and I am not any happier because of it....trust me! The building, although new, has had maintenance issues and they are not responsive when you ask for the necessary repairs. The 3 or so people I've spoken to at their head office are all extremely rude and seemed bothered to even take my call when I asked for the repairs to be made. They finally did send people up, but it was too much hassle to get them to do what should have been an immediate response. There have also been complaints about retaliation by Rockrose on any tenant who makes any noise about being unfairly treated. The company simply refuses to renew the lease and the tenant is asked to leave...needless to say, it's a very unsettling feeling when your landlord behaves like the mob. Save your $$$$ and find a friendlier landlord by reading reviews where you can get them. Trust me...people write these things for a good reason, so others don't have to suffer the same.
Rockrose: Cons, Thieves, Crooks.... I have an interview lined up this week for a job with Rockrose in their leasing department. But I'm having second thoughts after reading all the comments from the tenants.
Stay away from Rockrose. They aren't worth the money..
We lived in the archive for two years. We were always on time with the rent and are a very quiet, low maintenance couple. I wouldn't call them the worse management company in new york --- certainly not by a long shot - but they are very, very rude. They always fixed problems immediately but any phone call I would make to them, was always a hassle for them. Simple questions would receive reactions of hostility and contempt. I called them maybe four times in two years. I was by no means a PITA. I work in hospitality - I know what a PITA is. The leasing girl there couldn't be more rude! and the guy that collects the rent is useless.
And they are way, way overpriced for what they are. Then they actually thought they could get away with hiking our rent AGAIN this year - in this market! and these are not small hikes - so we didn't renew the lease. I see now they have a lot of units available. Many, many more than they ever used to. In all of their buildings. And they've had to lower their prices but not to where they should lower them. They can't fill their places anymore. Good. They deserve it.
We're in an AMAZING, much nicer building not far from there, for much less money. With a glorious management company! Rockrose can bite me. I hope they crumble and die.
Good Luck if you rent from these people!. I'm another one I'm afraid with a horrible experience. I gave notice on my apartment 1 month before leaving and then went on holiday leaving enough belongings (including a bed, duvet etc) for my final 2 weeks. Whilst on holiday they entered my apartment, removed all my belongings and repainted. Not only did I have no where to stay for 2 weeks, my belongings were not returned AND I was charged 150% of my last months rent for the honor. I wouldn't ever recommend this company. Good Luck!
Slumlord pretending to be luxury building management company.
Everything these users have written is true about Rockrose. As a quiet, working couple that's on time with the rent for over two years, we have been treated horribly by the management company. I dealt with Margaret Nieves, whose reaction to a polite phone call from me (returned 2 days late) was immediate defensiveness that anything could be wrong with the apartment, then a refusal to help. All I had called for was to find out if any other options existed, as my husband and I were not happy with the terraces built outside our apartment after we signed the lease. She told me that I had no way of proving that there would be more noise than before, and that she couldn't do anything, with a very sullen attitude.
5 minutes later, I got a phony, fake cheerful call back, where i was offered 100 SF less for $200 more a month, or a shut-up payment of $1500. Neither of these options were what we wanted, and I resented the attitude that we didn't matter and should just be turned away. I can't imagine how they react to people that call that are already angry. And I hadn't even mentioned the fact that none of the drains work in our apartment, there is no exhaust in the bathroom and mold grows and with the unexpected new public terrace outside, we get piles of lit cigarettes flying by our bedroom window (one of two in the entire place), which I guess can't be opened anymore. Rockrose was indignant when we called the building department to report hammer drilling directly into our wall at 11pm, even though though there was no permit, no notice and the lease says the noise has to stop by 5:30. As two people in construction, we have never watched a building go up so slowly as their addition to 2 Gold St, and have put up with excessive noise the entire time.
We pay $3600/mo for a place we can't even stay home sick from work in.
I was treated better by the absentee landlord up in Harlem. Wish lease were up already.
