User review by farewell2tai. Oh so delicious and exquisite is ur food. So fancy ur bar of noble wood. Discreet n so adorable the photographs on ur deep red wallsinflame passion in our hearts. Velvet lounge! A refuge to a comfy zone as much as to an inordinate love of pleasure. Tai! Were gonna miss you terrible, when we walk by n seeing the doors kept closed. Tears will drop down to the pavement where we used to step into ur doors. However there will be always butterflys in our tummy, reminding us, that we ones had such a good time together. N we know with every ending comes a new beginningThe magic keys will lock up the past and open another door into a new life. Tai! We wont forget u! Bear u in our hearts n keep u in our mind. Spring is in the AirThat means new life!

Great Private Space for a Party. Just had a birthday party here on a Friday night with about 60 guests, but the place could have easily held 50 more! Plenty of seating for guests, strong drinks, and the option of ordering some amazing Thai food. The entire staff was terrific and helped ease any party-planning stress I had. We brought our own DJ, which worked out well. The lounge has turntables and a CD player, but we brought our own CD mixer.

The perfect lounge!. My friends and I recently held a couple of private events at the Velvet Lounge. Both times, the management and bar staff were excellent and extremely helpful. We had our own DJ, but the music on most nights is also very cool and great for dancing or just to lounge out. Velvet is a great loft-style space and is perfect for private events or birthdays.

great venue, great staff and management. my friends and i have had more than one event at this place. the management was great! so cooperative, easy to work with... no hassles/issues. as for the venue itself, great upstairs lounge! they have fun music or they allow you to have your own dj, if you're having a private event. so the mood can be whatever you make it out to be... loungy and chill or upbeat with dancing! overall great space and great people!

Never before.... .. have i been 'blown away' by a traditional 'lounge' bar. However 'The Velvet Lounge' has proved itself to be removed by ions from the classic drunkard hideout arenas - and has secured itself a position in the annals of NYC history. Romance has found itself a new place to hide in the aegis of the Velvet Lounge. Perfect for the party goer and planner of the NEW era of this fine city. A must for any prospective socialite!

Great ambiance, Great drinks, Friendly service.. Went here with a group of friends and was extremely pleased with the service and drink selection. We stayed for a few hours and had a lot of fun. The ambiance was really nice and the staff very accomodating. I'll be back to try some of the food next time.

Poor Management. It's funny to see management hide behind the scenes and let their employees take the brunt of a poorly handled dinner party. It's obvious this restaurant can not handle the capacity of a group size more than 20. Dishes were not distributed in a timely manner. Some even got their dishes an hour after most of the people had finished their entrees already. The worst was the ice cream cake that was left out to melt in this sweltering heat and was inedible. I have to say the appetizers were much better than the entrees.
