Rip off artists

I was referred to this dentist through 1-800-Dentist. This guy is a con artist and that's an understatement. I had a cavity, which another dentist had confirmed already. Dr. Tushman starts drilling...and he doesn't stop. He's drilling and drilling and drilling, then all of a sudden he says "Gee, how did that happen?". I asked what? He says, "Blood is spurting out of your tooth...hmm the nerve is exposed. Oh well, now we'll have to do a root canal. He purposely drilled down to the nerve so he could perform a root canal instead of drilling away the cavity and doing the simple filling that was needed. I should have reported this creep. Then he told me to make an appointment to come back for the root canal. So I tell the receptionist and SHE starts telling me what SHE thinks I should have done the next time. She thinks she's a dentist too. I had to tell her that unless she went to dental school, I'd be listening to the dentist's advice and not hers. I went back, but Dr. Tushman pulled another con job and I never went back again.

Dr. Tushman is the best!

I've been seeing Dr. Tushman for years and he's great! Highly recommended. They always find a way to fit me in for a cleaning.

High Cost for Rude Service

The office manager for this dentist is rude beyond belief, extremely unprofessional and seems very vested in having an appointment become as unpleasant an experience as possible. Despite the fact that I had been a regular patient in the past, she found every reason imaginable to cancel an appointment recently made for a cleaning and check-up. And this was after she had called me to solicit business since I had stopped going because of the inflated fees and disrespectful service. I don't even know why I tried because this office has always been a nightmare to deal with, and I regret referring family and friends who also had similar negative experiences. There are plenty of great dentists in NYC with pleasant staff who charge reasonable fees, so I'll be taking my teeth and business elsewhere. I strongly recommend the same to others - it's just not worth the hassle.

Unexpected dental fees and rude office manager

This place is flawed with an unreliable system in how they bill you. They quote you one price for a dental procedure, only to catch you off guard by charging you a lot more than expected by the time you walk out. A warning would be nice. The fees were not even in the same ballpark, and it happened to me TWICE. (The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt.) Truthfully, its not about the $ so much, its about principle.

Besides their level of inconsistency, the office manager is unprofessional and rude. There are many, many other decent places who will give you better service for you and your teeth, so don't waste your time here!

Personable, calm, trustworthy dentist!

I was sent to Dr. Tushman by a coworker. I have a hard time finding a decent dentist, and because I'm very cavity prone, it's important to me that I find an excellent dentist. In recent years I seem to find the kind of dentists who just rush around b/c they overbook. How rude! Dr. Tushman has a steady flow of clients, but it never becomes a wait. He stays within 5 min. on schedule I would say. He was the most personable doctor I've met in a long time, answered all my questions and put me at ease (I get nervous at the dentist). I think he'd be great with kids as well. I've never been happier. His office uses a new tool to aid in teeth cleanings...it's some type of water pique (they also go back over with the traditional tools). It's unusual the first time, but is kind of nice b/c you're mouth is getting rinsed the whole time.
