  1. Although it is pricey, Morning star cafe is quick and you know you are going to get really tasty comfort food.

  3. The food is great!
  4. read the reviews and wanted to try Morning Star Cafe - anyone that thinks this place serves tasty food doesnt' get out much - and the service (if you're going to wait on tables in nyc it's a good idea to speak/understand english) is really poor - very lam

Highlight of my New York holiday- seriously!

by emma100

For a typical little cafe, this place ended up one of the highlights to my holiday to New York City!

Perhaps it's simply that I travelled from Ireland, and the typical American diner food seemed like a novelty to me, but on my first morning in the city we asked the hotel doorman for a nearby diner for our breakfast, and he suggested here. Even though we had planned to spend other mornings in different places recommended about the city- Clinton Street Baking, for example- we just kept going back to the Morning Star, it was so good!

The staff were lovely- really friendly, happy to help, never seemed annoyed with my constant requests for coffee refills (the coffee is very, very good.)

The menu is extensive and all categories- breakfasts, lunches, dinners- are available around the clock, as was proved by my father, who, on our last morning, had a fantastic lamb shank at 11 am before our flight!

I would really recommend the bagel with cream cheese and lox- fantastic lox, not at all stringy or over smoked- and the 'Morning star waffle'- very good belgian waffle, raisins, walnuts and whipped cream.

My family seemed to sample a lot of the menu, and the baked potatoes, burgers and omelettes also looked fantastic.

Overall, I suppose it is just typical diner food- but it's top notch diner food, perfectly cooked and nice big portions. What really makes the Morning Star, though, is the really nice staff and the fantastically busy atmosphere. It's an absolute gem!

Best diner food on the east side

by Straks

Really good. I have had so many different things there. Ranging from a deliscious burger to a tune melt, to eggs benedict. Although it is pricey, Morning star cafe is quick and you know you are going to get really tasty comfort food. I suggest the Bacon Cheesburger Delux and an order of cheese fries.

  • Pros: Really tasty comfort food
  • Cons: Expensive breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Best Eggs on the Planet

by morningstar4life

I went to Morningstar 5 times in 2 days, consuming a grand total of four omelettes and a New York wrap. Don't plan on going to Morningstar if you don't want your omelette to arrive within 90 seconds of ordering it and/or you don't want it to taste delicious. If you want something slow and not delicious, go somewhere else.
