The Burrito Poblano“This is easily the best Mexican food I've found anywhere.”
“When the best mex in town is gone for over a year, people get bent out of shape.”
Coldest Beer this side of the Mississippi. First of all, the Fire that shut them down last year was NOT their fault. It was started in the adjacent furniture upholsterer's basement. Aside from the devastation to the Restaurant above, the Village tried to deny their liquor license renewal, and the owner was caught in legal limbo for way too long. That said, they are back and as great as ever. It's impossible to find a place that is so simple, inexpensive, and with such an easy going atmosphere. Anypone who complains about this place is a moron. They are shooting for a cheap, delicious taco jont and that is exactly what you get. Couple that with the coldest and most diverse selection of real Mexican beers and you have a diamond in the rough worthy of the harshest critics. Where else Westchester can you and your date go out for a few beers over and dinner for under $20? The answer is nowhere. Burrito Poblano rules. 'Nuff said.
One of the worst mexican places to eat. Two words that come to mind are, incompetent and unfriendly. I don't understand how a place like this is still in business. They are grossly overpriced by the way.
Best Mex Chow in Town.
Downhill is flat out spinning a yarn. Yes the fire was devistating. When the best mex in town is gone for over a year, people get bent out of shape. Always great service. Always amazing food, flavor, and freshness! The Best Carnitas I have EVER HAD!!! I am a resident of 5 years and have never had a bad time.
We have always gotten our leftovers,. NO they dont let you take the hot sauce and salsa home. :)
HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!!
Downhill. Burrito Poblano used to be fantastic. Then they were closed for nearly a year after they had a fire. Now the service is terrible, the food is not nearly as good, and they wouldn't give me my leftovers. I've never experienced this one before, but when we asked for the salsa that was on our table to go, they wouldn't hand it over. Portchester is a much better bet.
Best Mexican Food Around. I am a huge Mexican fan, and no other place can hold a candle to this one! It is one of the best kept secrets in the area. The food is always delicious and very fresh. The place is kinda small, but you cant beat the food.
Great little place for your mexican cravings. Even though it's small, this place packs big flavor! Everything was great from food to service. The ambience made me feel at ease instead of on edge like some places can (I don't speak a lot of spanish). I would make the short trip there to satisfy my cravings! Instead of the traditional salsa and white sauce with chips (which is awesome), they offered a diced blend of tomatoes, cilantro and onions that didn't taste like my mother in laws! I recommend this place for anyone who LOVES mexican food.
Best Mex. This is easily the best Mexican food I've found anywhere. And I lvoe Mexican food. The burritos are enormous and delicious. Everything I've had is great. The Chicken w/Mole Poblano was one of the best meals I've ever had. Chile relleno is done differently there tha Iv'e had anywhere else, and while not as big, it was ten times better. The place is a hole in the wall, so the service is incredible. Great place when you're in a rush too. Everything is so fresh, it's great.
