Beast Deal for lunch! – This is a great place to go for lunch. Friendly bartenders, unbeatable beer special at lunch time. Great menu. I have only been there at lunch time, and have always gotten good service and good food.
best place for cheap and fast drinks – this isn't a club. it is a place to go for cheap and fast drinks. (and i am not talking champagne.) come here for rediculously cheap beer, wings, liquor, baseball, great music... the bartenders are fast. the female bartenders are gorgeous and (for once) friendly in that mid-western sort of way. the male bartenders are attractive too, and not cocky (which also is a nice change). the food is typical bar food. it does the job. the crowd is young, but not stuffy or snobby. i have been going here for awhile and i have always had a good time (a hangover the next day, but i got more than my money's worth).
fun after work place – I am surprised by the bad reviews this place has received. I mostly stay on the UES but have been here a few time for happy hours after work and I had a really fun time. The bartenders were nice and we stayed really late. Other people must like it too because it is usually crowded.
awful time – don't waste your time or money here.
awful bartenders, awful waiters, slow service, bad food, cheesey people...with so many other great places to go in the city, why spend any time here?
Terrible – What a nightmare! It's understandable when bartenders can't get to everyone in a bar because its busy. But what is the excuse when there is NO ONE in the bar, and the bartenders talk to each other for over 5 minutes while someone is waiting for a drink. On a DEAD saturday night (yup, you read that right). Waitresses were pretentious and not even remotely good-looking or nice. Even though the place is somewhat new, I'd never go back there again.
Are you Serious???? – The drinks are overpriced and the bartenders are definitely not the best looking in the city. If you understand that it is a small dirty little bar and accept it for what it is, go and have a drink and that's it.
The New Hotspot – My girls and I went to Local last Friday night and we had a great time. We spent only $15 and got to drink wine and bubbly from 11-2. The place was packed, the bartenders were so quick that by 2 we had to start switching to free waters!!! The great music helped offset the fact that every guy was watching the game!!!
Neighborhood bar goes plasma with big sports games on multiple screens. – In Short
Multiple plasma screens showing off satellite game packages and well-priced beer set the tone for this neighborhood bar. Seating is limited to barstools and tables set off to one side. Find Guinness and Bass on tap and a full offering of cocktails, sangria, and champagne. The menu features wings, burgers, chili and other standard fare. If you work in the neighborhood, take advantage of weekday daytime dollar drafts. It's also open for brunch on weekends.
Are you joking – This place is a dinky little place in a nieghborhood with many better options. Its tiny, and filled mainly with the biggest cheeseballs that turtlebay has to offer. You have sutton place close by, you have fubar, you have so many bars in the area that to waste ones time here doesnt make sense. The food is pretty bad too. And to get crammed into a tiny seat while sitting along 2nd avenue might be considered outdoor seating, but i will surely pass.
Local is a great afterwork spot to meet up, especially with the outdoor cafe. Plus it is a fun bar at night with plenty of tvs to catch a game.
